Command and Conquer, the groundbreaking real-time strategy series returns with Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars. This next chapter of the title, goes back to the roots of the series, and features fast, fluid gameplay and a gripping story. The single player campaign will reward you for your gameplay style and with the experience of building mobile bases, Ion Storms, customising your armies by combining units, and battling it out online, this new title appears to be the most promising yet.
The year is 2047, and Tiberium is spreading like a radioactive ice age. Global Defense Initiative (GDI) and Brotherhood of NOD again return as it sees them battling each other, with GDI fighting to contain the Tiberium and NOD hell bent on taking control and transforming humanity.
"Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars combines fast-paced gameplay with new ways to tell a story in an RTS game," said Mike Verdu, Executive Producer at EA Los Angeles (EALA). "We're building a next generation Command & Conquer game that is true to the spirit of this classic franchise, but is updated with state-of-the-art visuals, added strategic depth, and gameplay innovations that will move the genre forward. I am very excited to be working on this amazing game."
The game is currently in development, and is to drop sometime in 2007. No further details are yet available.
cheers!

Cool.
I've been wondering when it would be, they haven't done a C&C since generals (03, expansion 04)...but its still quite good though.
Its quite popular in Internet cafe's in the Philippines right? (As well as Counterstrike/Warcraft..)
I wonder how much of an improvement the gameplay will be rather than just improving the graphics.
But 2007, relatively a long way away...

Here's some concept art circulating on the net about C&C3

Presumably Light infantry...not too sure which, Nod/GDI

A mech, apparently GDI, but could be Nod stolen tech.

Orca Gunship/Firehawk, GDI

Yeah, its kinda rare to see people playing it now, at least in internet cafes. More DOTA, MYU, RYL, Counterstrike type thing.
Although during my hols, I did play the odd game of zero hour and even c&c yuri.. :p haha!
I'm quite looking forward to the next one.

only 3 more months to go!
From the screenshots - it's looking to be an awesome game. I think it's gonna require a kick@ss graphics card to get decent framerates, hehehe.... :D

Yahuh...I should be getting an XPS 1710 in January or an alenware of some sort (most likely purchase is the dell). 512 MB nVidia GeForce 7950 GTX should be able to handle that...right? + 2gig Ram, 2.16 Centrino Duo.
Well I hope so anyway - if gameplay is good enough, I normally turn off all graphics and detail for performance.

This is for generals mind. For some reason, it keeps crashing if I don't turn the everything off. It's probably a bug because my system can handle more intensive games.
As to how I can enjoy the game with everything off: Generals game play is very immersive, particularly on LAN. The graphics are good enough with everything turned off. It's not as if the screen goes blank white and there's dots on the screen:p
Of course, it does look way better with everything up to full but when it crashes 20 minutes in...pfft...it's not worth it.
Anyway, I haven't played it for a few months now:Dgot a new laptop and just didn't bother installing it again.

Not exclusively - I just need them for the portability.
My desktop sits right next to my lap top. (Well the monitor does :D)
For the price of that 1710, I could have gotten/built an awesome desktop, but for the sake of portability it will have to suffice.
Have you seen the XPS 2010? That's like a true hybrid...20 inch screen but "Portable". Now that would be perfect for C&C 3 Lan parties.

Those look great! Oh no, this means that I have to like shell out for a new graphics card or a new PC altogether. But I think this game is worth it. :D :D

I remember playing tiberium wars a lot with friends in cafe's its a full fun game. The powers of GDI and Nods are so equally divided but the Nod Flamethrower tank can so kick the ass of GDI defence tower but the GDI's always get their ass whopped by the obilisk. A truely engaging game. Am looking forward.

After more than a year of not playing... I again installed my copy of C&C Generals. And for a game that's old - it still plays well. Very challenging in some scenarios.
I think that C&C 3 will rock!
cheers!
