Hi all

Quite new to this forum, so please be gentle with me!

I am absolutely torn at the moment. Am on Orange in the UK and want a new handset/tariff. The 6280 is still not available on Orange (apparently it is continuing to be tested) but can be found on 3, O2 and Vodafone.

I got one on 3 the other day but took it back and cancelled the contract after 24 hours because there was virtually no signal where I live (rural Devon).

As far as I know Vodafone signal here (like Orange) is good and I could get the same phone immediately with them.

Can any Vodafone UK users with the 6280 let me know how they have got on with the handset? It seemed really nice but I wonder about long term usage/durability and bugs in the software. How many Vodafone customers are happy with it?

Alternatively I could get the SE w810i and stay on Orange or get it with Vodafone. I am aware of the main spec differences but just cannot decide which phone is the best option...

How good is the SE w810i? Is it a reliable phone? Is the UI nice to use?

Sorry to write my life story here, but I am in such a quandry at the moment!

Any comments (as long as they are helpful!) appreciated. :)

MB's review of W810 is a gleaming one:

I guess one big question is what would you rather, a 3G phone, or a walkman phone.

Thanks for the feedback so far. 3G is a bit of a waste of time for me, as there is no coverage in this part of the world. Also none of my friends have 3G phones at the moment.

Well I can't see much advantage of the 6280, unless you really like the slider thing. The W810 will take better pictures (I think) as hotzigetty said. Personally I think if you are happy with orange, stay with them and get the W810.

I just had a 6280 for a few weeks, and now I'm using a W810. The W810 is by far the better option. Until Nokia get their act together and release new firmware for the 6280, I would recommend people steer clear of it. The only benefit of the 6280 is a higher resolution screen, though the W810's screen is much brighter and actually looks clearer, plus it has an ambient light sensor to adjust brightness and keypad backlighting in different conditions.

In summary, get the W810 - the UI is brilliant, and blows the 6280 away in every respect, save for 3G, which you aren't concerned about anyway.

I have a mini-review up of the 6280 here - http://www.pantsland.com/?p=107 - and will probably do the same for the W810, though Michael's review echos pretty much everything I feel about the phone as well.

W900 is kinda bulky IMO, if you don't need 3G I'd still say W810.

Great response so far guys, much appreciated.

It's looking like the w810i is a far better option. I seem to be hearing endless negative comments of the 6280. Have always been a Nokia person but it looks like the 6280 is a great idea but very badly executed.

Are there any happy 6280 owners out there?

6280 is a great idea but very badly executed.Couldn't have said it better myself. The 6280 could have been such a nice phone.
