As they say in some parts of the world: It's all that and a bag of chips. The Sony Ericsson W810i is truly a fantastic phone. It offers a great Walkman music app, a 2MP auto-focus camera, and a superb UI. It is our new favorite handset.

From last year's review on the K750 / W800, the biggest complaint from the reviewer was that the actual audio experienced while using the phone was sometimes a bit less than satisfactory.

Any comments concerning how the W810 performs in this regard?

"14 days of standby"? ive been hearing that the fone lasts about 2-3 days only...maximum of 4 days... anybody can confirm how long is the battery life really?

Also... anybody knows when the w810 will reach the philippines? :)

We experienced no drop calls and the audio quality was always top notch.

cool..so standbytime, or "light use" would be about 3-5 days.... :)

thanks brad!

It was definitely a good review. I値l however, have to say that the lack of length cover is kind of worrying, as well as the battery life seems to be less attractive on the w810i that the one of the k750i.
@ Brad: You seem to be in Australia, so I値l ask: do you know anywhere I could buy this phone for cheap, here in Australia?

thanks for any advice

what do u mean by length of cover?

and i think battery life is pretty decent... 2-3 days of heavy use..that means u can get abt 3-4 days of normal use..and about 5 days of standby...
anytime a fone goes beyond 2-3 days for me is ok by my standards...

sorry I meant lens cover. The k750i has a sliding metal thing that protects the camera's lens.

Are the phones from HK trustworthy? What happens with the warranty if you buy it from a HK seller?

I think municipal ment lens cover, not length cover.

Are the phones from HK trustworthy? What happens with the warranty if you buy it from a HK seller?Yeah, they are pretty trustworthy. If you are buying off eBay, buy from a seller with high feedback, and remember that it will come with a HK -spec AC plug so you might need an adapter, and for any warranty repairs you will have to send it back to HK (if the phone came with warranty at all). If you are serious, PM me and I can see if I can get you a deal from my contact in HK.

thanks brad, it's really appreciated.
I won't need a new mobile before mid-june as I wont really need it before my trip overseas, and I'll hopefully see some drop in price...wouldn't I?
I'll think about it though. It might be worth paying an extra AUD200 to get a year long warranty
thanks again

any idea when the W810i will be for sale in the USA? I'm looking for an unlocked GSM unit made for the US market (not imported from HK)

has anybody tried the w810 with the 2Gig Sony Pro Duo? it was never really specified in SE website that the w810 supports 2Gig memory stick.... if ever, how big a capacity does the w810 support

Well, most GSM phones aren't made to be sold unlocked in the U.S., so your best bet would just be to get unlocked phones from third-party merchants.

and I'm okay with that, but I'd prefer to buy one that's not an import. I have a Siemens S56, which was never sold in the US (as far as I know), but I still managed to buy it here and not via import.

are you saying that the only way I can get a w810 is through an importer, whether grey market or otherwise? (I consider anyone such as amazon marketplace or ebay to be grey market)

Did you buy it from an independent store or something? That would seem to be the only way...

When I mean importer, I mean like the sellers, whether they be in an actual shop or kiosk at the mall, that sell unlocked phones. It's perfectly legal, they're just from abroad cause that's the only way...
