Well I've had my N90 for almost three months and I'm quite happy with it. :) After havng experienced the smartphone concept, I really don't think that I can switch to S40 but if I'm supposed to choose a handset as my second phone, what do you recommend me to buy?

First of all, I think there is no need for a smartphone since I've already got one (correct me if I'm wrong);
and second, it should be definitely Nokia :D

What is your budget?

What are your requirements in your second phone?

1) Budget? Well, I don't want it to be that much expensive; in fact this would be my second phone.

2) Requirements? That's what I really like to discuss about. Just consider you have a feature-rich S60 like N90....Can't imagine a S40 could give you any improvements (or maybe I'm wrong). Especially when you get used to a smartphone (3650, 7610 and now N90), a usual mobile phone can't be really tempting but as a second phone, there is a chance to experience it. So, if you had an N90 (you know its features and capabilities better than), which S40 you would go for?

What about 7280/7380?

What about 7280/7380?

Nice! But I think these two are just about style and elegance. I was thinking of maybe a phone featuring the new enhanced S40 3rd Edition UI...6270 or 6280 maybe?!

I would definitely go for one of the current or forthcoming S40 version 3 phones. They have similar look and feel to S60, but are easier to use, have nicer screens than the older gen S40 phones. Depends a little where you live too and if you can/want to wait a little bit. I think 6131 looks great but is not out yet.

Well, if it's just gonna be a second phone, then you shouldn't be worried too much about getting the most advanced S40, right?

If I had to choose an S40 phone, I'd get one of the Fashion Collection phones or maybe the ruggedized ones

It definitely looks great as you said...Well I'm not really in a hurry of course, just bought my N90 three months ago :p So I can wait a little bit longer. What do you think about 6270/6280? By the way, if I'm supposed to wait for the forthcoming ones, do you still recommend an S40 other than 6131?

You're right...There is actually two different points of view; since I've never had an S40, I can't judge about it

1) Once you become an S60 owner (heavy-user, to be more specific), there would be no need to experience S40 UI, 'cause it won't give you anything new...In that case I must stick to Fashion Collection/Style & Elegance.

2) Even if you become an S60 heavy-user, S40 still has something new to offer (at least as a second phone  )...If so, then you may want to get an advanced S40. :)

So, what do you suggest me to do?

What exactly would S40 give you that S60 doesn't? Having been a user of both, I really don't see any advantage of the former over the latter...

LOL a crazy thought just came to me...why don't you get the 7280 or 7380?? Now THAT would offer something that S60 doesn't...frustration in a lipstick!!:p

Then I should go for style, if it really has nothing new to offer :)

Frustration in lipstick? That was sooooo cool :D

If you are thinking about an S40 and want to wait, I would recommend the 6233. Great features and good size.

The only reason I can see you wanting a second phone is due to the size of the N90? I mean otherwise do you need a second phone?!?

You could consider the 7370, 6230i or the 6233 then. The 7370 and 6233 both have the nice QVGA displays and 3rd Edition S40 UI (I think). 6230i doesn't but is a nice improvement on the already great 6230.

My vote would be for 6131.

The camera tech is dated (1.3mpix, no flash) but the phone itself is quite good I suppose. 16.7 million colours would be one of the first for Nokia and it does have that QVGA screen which is worth having. Though like all their 'coming soon' phones, there is no real idea when it'll be out.

I agree with Deviant, the low tech of the camera is why I think the 6233 is better. But if that is not important 6131 is probably better with the 16M colour screen.

As a second phone, I didn't believe the camera would be an issue.

Not in the UK, 6131 isn't out on T-Mobile. Maybe somewhere else, but it's not yet listed on their website.

I agree now...do you really need a second phone? I honestly don't see why you couoldn't survive with "only" your N90:rolleyes::p

First of all, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts! I really appreciated it :D

To be honest, I really don't have any problem with N90 size; the reason I need a second phone is that I have an alternate SIM card...Rarely being used but in fact give me the opportunity to experience an S40

Absolutely right! :)

According to Forum Nokia, 6233 is equipped with a 24-bit QVGA display but Nokia Website says :"QVGA 262,144 color, 320x240 pixel display"!

I was wondering how "the stereo and 3D surround sound speakers" will sound on 6233. Is it like 6270? In fact those two speakers at such a low distance from each other could really give you a 3D effect sound quality?!
The N90 loudspeaker quality is superb (at least among Nokia Products) and logically the stereo system would sound better on 6270 (6233) but how comparable are they?
