Rumors say that Nokia is going to release something in New York this week. I think that Michael has more news in this matter.

I think that they will release one, maybe two new Enterprise phones, one PC Card (Edge) and maybe a Series 60 phone for CDMA market.

Michael, what time will you be attending the Nokia launch meeting ? Do you know where in NY it is ? perhaps at their new office ?

Will Mary McDowell hold the presentation ? :-)

It starts at 6pm Eastern Time.

Not sure who is running the show for that event.

No, I think 7700 is kind of a proof of concept/first try effort to move from mobiles/cells to entertainment/media. Not for the serious business user. This is also indicated by the fact that its in the "fashion phone" 7000 series, not in the 9000 series. Probably will not sell that much, unless Nokia is internally cross-subsidizing its price which they usually don't do, as far as I know. Btw, 7700 can be seen to be in line with the recent editorial on the www.Infosync.no ("The phoneless phone").

The new Communicator on the other is for the serious user and hence probably with a full keyboard. Likely to sell reasonably well as the 9210 did at least in Europe (or at least in Northern Europe)

The 7700 is a good platform to base the 9210i replacement on.. decent screen, GPRS, Symbian Series 90 etc. The new Communicator would still need a keyboard. I'm guessing that it's about a 50/50 chance that it'll support 3G too.

My guess is that it will be EDGE capable, but not UMTS.

There is too little demand yet.

Well if you can get the scoop on it that'd be fantastic.. you might end up getting Slashdotted again though!

Well, in 24 hours we'll know for certain - so no use speculating.
