Any sugestions in what im doing wrong?

Tell me about it!!
I can connect my z600 with my PC using the software included in my bluetooth adaptor (unbranded Taiwan product). I can down/up-load anything..
But when I want to establish a connection using PC suite from SE (XTND Connect), it fails..
Until now, I can't sync my z600 with my outlook.. *frown*

hi jokay22

thought it was just me for a moment then. btw its work fine using IrDa if you have that.

I was doing a search on the sonyerriscson web site but still no joy. i think there is a new version of the s/w tho dont know if that will work. might give that a go.

I was having the same problem. Go to "My Bluetooth Places" and click on "view or modify configuration", in the "client application" tab, see what COM port is listed next to "bluetooth serial port". Then open your control panel (if using XP, click "view traditional") and open the phone monitor. Make sure that the proper COM port is enabled AND reserved. Disable all other ports. Open outlook. Then go back to "my bluetooth places", double click on your device (assuming there is a checkmark next to your device indication that it is paired), and double click on serial port 1 to activate. You should see two green arrows when connected. While it is connected, you should be able to sync.
It took me awhile to get this to work properly. The key is to get the proper COM ports enabled.

my only other suggestion would be to uninstall all software, including bluetooth and try again. This worked for someone else having the same problem.

Everything with my Z600 works with bluetooth on my PowerBook except being able to dial the Z600. I can send files via bluetooth to the Z600, iSync my iCalendars and Addressbook via bluetooth. Connect to AT&T mMode service on the Z600. Text message, check my pop mail, all on the Z600.
From what I've read on numerous forums, I think it's the Z600 that has the problem of extablishing a dialup connection via bluetooth and any computer. PC or Mac.

dialup is different. I don't believe ATT allows dialup service through the phones. Check ATT forums for backup on this. Someone asked that question not too long ago and someone replied that ATT has this feature blocked.

No it worked perfect with my Nokia 3650. I just got the Z600 to replace that phone. And I used the dial up via bluetooth all the time with the 3650.

mozart11,
interesting. I'll have to try it sometime so I can be better informed on how to do it. Thanks! If I get it to work tonight, I'll let you know how I got it to work and we'll compare notes. I have the T630 so I imagine they are similar connection procedures.

sanjaymistry,
That sucks, matching the COM ports should work. Does your phone show up in the phone monitor software? If it doesn't show up there, you can't sync. Try this:
-Goto my bluetooth places and double click on your phone.
-then double click the imrc (sp) sync icon.
-open outlook and go to the sync menu across the top and select configue(i think is the title) and make sure that imrc shows up there.
I'm just trying to figure out ways to force the phone monitor to see your phone.

hi all..
i guess i'm pretty lucky compared with sanjaymistry. the connection between my pc & my z600 works fine using the s/w given by the bluetooth manufacturer. after some trial & error i also can sync my contacts with outlook.
but when i try to connect using the xtnd (z600's pc suite) it STILL fails. yes, i've tried what chris told us, but still no luck. i guess i'll uninstalled the software. one s/w is enough anyway.. *shrug*

mozart11,
sorry, silly question, in outlook, where does my text messages will spooled up? i see none in my inbox.. *confused*
and i think the dial-up problem related to the provider that u r using, 'coz mine has no problem. in fact, i currently browsing this forum using my z600 as the modem..

jokay22 not sure what you mean with the outlook question? I don't sync my email with the Z600. Just my Calendars and addressbook. When I download my email with the Z600, it's in the inbox, under "messaging" "email" "inbox".
As I wrote my 3650 would work fine connecting to AT&T as a dialup. The Z600 won't. I'm actually sending the Z600 out today to GlobalMobility to get the firmware updated and to have all the Vodafone customization removed. I'm hoping this will solve my dialup problems.

Hope this helps.

mozart11, sorry, i'll rephrase that: can u sync your txt msg (sms) in your phone with your outlook? if yes, how?
hope u can solve ur dialup problem..

hmm..maybe my next question won't be inline with the thread's title, but i'm wondering, how did u all put your contacts b'day in SE phones? i put mine in the other number row. but i like it to remind me when the date arrives, like mine in my old nokia. is there a way?

thx y'all..

I don't use Outlook. I'm also on a PowerBook. I use the Apple software specifically because it supports most SE phones and Nokias and most other makes.

As for birthdays, I have them entered in my calendars so a reminder alerts me on my computer and the phone also because iSync does it for me.

My sons birthday today!

It worked cant still belive it.

i uninstalled the s/w that i used to sync with my last phone (Nokia 7650) and it just worked :D

thanks chrisprees for the thing about the com ports as i think that had a lot to do with it as well.

another think that i noticed was i had a BT serial pot for local services and client apps. I got rid of the local services one and jobs done.

this phone is good and now this works its just a mater of getting a nice ring tone and playing the funcky games

cheers all of you

Me too!. I emailed Ross Barkman who wrote the Sony Ericsson GPRS scripts for dialup connects emailed me back with the solution. Instead of a phone number to dial with AT&T and SE phones, I have to input the word proxy instead of a number. The computer dialed up the first go.
