The Motorola L6 (http://www.mobileburn.com/review.jsp?Id=2299&source=HOME#) shares many features and design elements with its older brother, the SLVR L7, though certain features have been either reduced or taken out to allow the L6 a cheaper price point...

Well that's what budget phones are for!

(When buying for relatives though, cost being an issue of course, I try to get 2nd hand. More likely that it will be better - specs wise - than a bnb (brand new in box) phone. )

I think my mom would have an issue that its "too thin" and my sister that "its not a flip"

OMG same here! My mom thinks every GSM phone (although she doesn't realize they're GSM) are toy-like!

But yeah, I just want to own a SLVR vicariously:p

What's more annoying is how nearly all manufacturers are trying to get into this slim war, some to the extent of copying moto's designs *cough* samsung.

LOL yes but gives people better choices than Moto;):p

Ok, I hear you on that, but not with the blatant copying of some designs, aka the v3 clone z540

True true...I rather like the D810

And I like the z540 more.

Do you think the chuny V3X deserves the RAZR name? not exactly razr with its relatively chunky 20mm belly.

I think more effort should be made on candybar styling, not just getting them to paper thin stage.

Well...styling in general:p

Do you think the chuny V3X deserves the RAZR name? not exactly razr with its relatively chunky 20mm belly. I think the Z540 is what the V3x should be - a RAZR with 3G capabilities. If Samsung can do it, why couldn't Motorola? Seems Moto is being beaten at its own game.

Why did Moto decide to rest on its laurels and have the V3x at 20mm? Maybe they've gotten complacent ever since the RAZR:p

haha touche!

Going back to topic...is there any possibility of either of the SLVRs coming to T-Mobile USA?

Yes, there is a chance, but Cingular have exclusivity in the US at the moment.

Incidentally, the L6 is not a SLVR. Motorola reserve that branding for the L7. Therefore, it is Motorola SLVR L7, and just Motorola L6. Michael made this mistake as well.

So the L6 is just an L6 that looks like the SLVR but isnt a SLVR, even though all the RAZR shaped phones are called RAZR (except for the ones samsung nicked ...er was inspired by)

Here in the U.S., the Samsung SPH-A900 (SGH-D810 to the Eurasians) is nicknamed "the Blade"

Relevance?

perhaps the naming of the L6.

Kinda strange being named simple L6 after the other moto's are getting nifty tags, ROKR, RAZR, SLVR, PEBL etc.
