They have a list of all web shops were the SX1 is available. Apparently Siemens will be releasing a new firmware version for the SX1 this week. The SX1 will hopefully be out on UK contract sometime this month...id guess after Siemens release the new firmware.

Except the weird keypad position of SX1......everything is better than 6600!. To me Nokia phones are damn common these days....everywhere you go....you will find Nokias owner around you. Considering the fact that SX 1 had a radio FM and thus....there is free firmware upgrade from the webpage in the future and maybe it will support more than 128MB ( i think so...)

I've got to say that I'm doubtful about any UK merchant actually having the SX1 in stock, none of the ones I've asked about have a release date yet. Directmobileaccessories is part of the Directmobilephones site and they always tend to advertise products very early.

I understand that the SX1 has had serious software problems.

Mobilefly tends to have products out very quickly, it's normally a good heads up if you're waiting for a phone in Europe.. so far, nothing.

They are available in quite a few web shops. Although the UK web shops are really expensive at the minute since its not officially out over here in the uk yet.
Plus, dont expect perfect firmware if you buy one now. FW6 that is starting to circulate has apparently fixed a good few buys, improved the camera and possibly speeded up the menu. Although the firmware is not available on the web site yet. Hopefully by the time it hits the UK (hopefully later this month) it will have at least FW6 :)

As far as i know, they are pretty much the same. The SX1 camera is at least as good as the 6600.

Well my contracts up this month so i'm gonna get it on a UK contract when it officially makes it over to here.
Dont know about the SX2 since its all just rumours at the minute. You could wait until Q3 only to find out that it wont be out until next year. Mobile-Review put a news article out about the SX2 but it was just fake photos that some of the guys on club-siemens made up haha http://www.club-siemens.net/forum/viewthread.php?tid=30485
Personally, I'd say don't wait for the SX2, buy the SX1 when you can. The new firmware for it should be on in Febuary, i think thats pretty much the official date from Siemens.

I've found just one retailer in the UK selling the SX1 and it's quite expensive.

To me the spec looks pretty similar, I think really it's down to looks and at least the SX1 looks quite different from anything else apart from some of the Xelibri range. However, the 6600 is an elegant looking phone.

Personally I shouldn't worry too much about the SX2.. there's always another great phone "just around the corner" but they mostly seem to ship much later than anyone expected.

The SX 1 is now available in Greece for about 520 euros. Compared to the Nokia 6600, the Siemens is a much better phone. It has everything the Nokia has, plus FM radio and MP3 player!

i tried the phone and the keypads were a real turn-off. its very hard to compose messages. if only they'd designed the phone using a normal keypad layout.

the joystick is also very slippery, thus difficult to use.

i'll pass on this phone and just wait for the sendo x.

I think it depends on personal preference. I'm already up to speed and I've only had the unit for four-odd days.

Agree about the joystick - that could be made easier. You get used to pushing it rather than moving it though, if you see what I mean (positioning your thumb behind the source of movement and pushing it, rather than having your thumb on top).

i really like the SX1, the design, keypad... everything.

But I bought a Nokia 6600.

Why?

Because the SX1 is 150 to 200 Euro more than a 6600.

The SX1 is a VERY nice phone... BUT NOT THAT NICE!! :mad:

A bit dissapointed on SX-1. Cos' it's running on this Synbian OS. The camera is almost the same as NK6600, but NK6600 is better. As for the bluetooth, it can only transmit data files and not SMS or any other thing. Say connecting to a PDA, it can connect, but can't surf the net using Bluetooth. Thus dissapointed with the connection. Overall functions are okay.

I think symbian is great! I love symbian phones.

The SX1 has same camera as 6600, except the SX1's is hidden and cannot be scratched.

The SX1 can record unlimited video recorder, as 6600 can only for 11 seconds.

The SX1 has an MP3 player and hotswappable MMC and can support upto 256MB (without nuking your processor like on 6600).

It has a better processor.

Better design.

I prefer the SX1, inspite of my love for the finlandish maker...
