From allaboutsymbian.com:

N91 support pages - includes Mac Music Sync
Published by Rafe Blandford at 17:19 GMT, April 7th

As reported by the S60 Multimedia Blog the support pages for the Nokia N91 are now available. The support pages includes the manual and interactive demonstrations to help you get the most out of the phone. Also available is the Nokia Music Manager Plug-in for iTunes on the Mac which allows you to sync music between your N91 and Mac OSX.

The Music Manager Plug-in allows Mac users to use iTunes to transfer music to their N91. This enables Mac users to import music from their CD collection, transfer MP3 and AAC files from their Mac to the N91 and back again (2 way transfer - something which is not possible with the Windows Media sync provided for the N91 on Windows). Play lists can be created on the device and on the N91 and track info such as albums, artists, genre, etc. can be accessed (with Nokia Music Manager plug-in). With the Music Manager Plug-in Nokia is challenging Apple in it's own back yard, with the N91 porviding a compelling mobile music device on both the Mac and Windows platforms (although songs bought from the iTunes music store will not work on the N91).

Other software provided includes the drivers necessary to allow sync between Windows Media Player and the N91. Links to download PC Suite and other PC applications are also provided together with a N91 compatiable version of Lifeblog.

Unfortunately unlike previous version of the manual no mention is made of UPnP support, and UPnP is not available in the current (final/ release) firmware. However it is possible that this may be provided in a later firmware update.

I will point out that it won't sync music purchaced from the iTunes music store though, the only DRM it supports is Windows Media.

mac users..mac users...mac users ?

Is it mac users only (too tired to get some logic)

I find iTunes the easiest way of music transfer, next to drag and drop. Over all music management - it rules.

Supposedly, putting the N91 in Mass Storage mode (also should work for N80, etc.), and using this bit of code:
http://ita.sourceforge.net/download.html
You should be able to sync Nokia phones with iTunes.

For a second there I thought Apple was open to competition on a level playing field.. . That kinda sucks. No A2DP music player for itunes yet..

The N91 has just come out on pre-order on O2 in the UK alongside the SE P990 if anyone's interested any more.

Do you own a Mac? On a Mac it is the best music software, and for an iPod owner ability to seamlessly sync it with N91 is great news.

Hi guys,
I recently got the N91 , in fact on tuesday and i have to say its some phone but it does have some issue which im putting down to Firmware issue's.
To reply about the Itunes synch let me give u my feedback on it.
I own a G4 Powerbook, 1.5 ghz, 1gb RAM.
I transferred a random selection of songs ( all Mp3, 192kbps ) created a Playlist and copied over 3 GB worth in one go.
The phone was connected via USB, useing the Nokia Music manager for the Mac.
It was at the start buggy, crashed 1-2 times and when it did work took about 20-30 mins for the transfer to be completed.
So im not that crazy about it at the moment and looking for something else to do the job, any one got any ideas??

Did you format the harddrive from the HD tool on the phone before trying this?

You are right, it should be fine to use straight-away (if installed in a phone). It is true that hard disks for laptops and desktops don't come pre-formatted but in a phone given it's application it ought to be, and since you transferred data to it, it must've been.

It's worth doing a FULL reformat to make sure it doesn't have electrical bad sectors and then if it's still faulty and crashes, get a firmware update or return the phone. This is, of course, one of the many reasons why I think a hard disk is a bad idea. Clearly, flash RAM can still fail but it's a lot better.
