Read the review etc on the T610 (US version) and sorry to say it isnt any different here in the UK...

I live in a poor coverage area anyway but ALL of my Nokias worked there... the T610 doesnt... and to make matters worse it seems to think to itself " No network, might as well go on strike for the rest of the day then" and wont pick up reception even when I am back in a good area. It didnt even alert me when I had messages on my voicemail - from a week ago! (O2 voicemail calls 3 times after a missed call and then sends a text to alert you to voicemail)

Spent a week down in Cornwall over xmas & NY and had NO reception anywhere for the whole week and even when I got back to civilisation it still didnt pick up the network until I rebooted the phone. (I thought it was odd that I had NO messages from new year plus my rellys are pi**ed at me for not calling them for xmas.)

I have swapped back to my Nokia 6310, 6210, 6110, 6330 and no problems... swapped to another T610 - poor reception...
O2 (Provider) are sending me a new T610 and new SIM (Apparently mine is a 256kb, 2volt SIM my new SIM will be 512k, 5v - what diff this will make eludes me) Not sure what the firmware version of the new one is but I hope it sorts the poor reception!

I have tried to get along with it for 3 months now...
I can live the umpteen button presses to do something simple and the really poor (compared to the 6310) address book syncronisation and battery life. The occasional crash & auto reboot. The frankly pathetic rising ring volume and ear piece volume. My coworker sitting not 25 feet from me has full network bars on his 6310... my T610 has 1 and then none and then 2 and then none etc etc etc. But this is a business phone! I NEED to able to take and make calls!

Rant On...
As much as the T610 is nice to hold and look at (But not in bright sunlight). It does have some nice features... but if it cant do THE ONLY thing a phone HAS to do - IE Take & Make calls! - then what use is it??
Rant Off...

I find it amazing so many people are having reception problems with the T610. I have had mines 4 month now and stay in Aberdeen in the N.E of Scotland and find the reception so much better with my T610 than on my Nokia 7210. My nokia used to loose signal some places and was a nightmare for dropping calls. But my T610 not a single problem at all. No lost signal no dropped calls, not even funny hissing noises. I am on the O2 UK network and seems fine. Sorry to hear about your probelm with the phone.

Although you are correct about the sunlight problem, although not much bother for me, hardly ever see the sun, hehe.

Thanx

James
