Sometime I really hate people. Get a load of this:
From: ....@hotmail.com
Subject: bluespoon (M-Feedback)
Dear Sir,
I love your website, but I want to address a disagreement that I have with the recent review of the Bluespoon headset. I have an older analog Bluespoon and I love it and find it very comfortable. Now maybe my ears are of the type that normal evolved humans have and your reviewer had some type of Neanderthal or ape like ears and that is why is was uncomfortable for him. If he was to just evolve further he might find the headset as comfortable as I do. I find that I can do many tasks around my home, not cave as the reviewer most likely lives in, and I am comfortable and the headset never gets loose or falls out of my ear. The only interference I ever get with the headset is when I am using the microwave and am close to it, just fyi.
Thanks,
Rob T.

That sucks, man!
Seems more than a little uncalled for...
Maybe he used to work for them or something / or is having problems at home and the only way he can deal is by trying to insult your ear canal?
Is he just taking his brand loyalty too far???
Weak.
Well, no matter what your ears are like, I'll still read this site! :D

Some of it is the brand loyalty thing, I'm sure, but mostly he is probably just self-righteous and ignorant. Since he bought it, and paid so much for it, there couldn't *possibly* be something better - and anybody that has a differing opinion must be an idiot.
See that all the time. The thing that really gets me, though, is the insults. Where is the need for that?
Say "I think it is the most comfortable thing in the world, I polled 2,000 others and they all agree." Fine. But what the hell is reason for hurling insults, especially after starting with "Love the site" blah blah.
That just put me in such a foul mood before going to bed.
I must tell you all, though, that for every asshat email like that I get, I must get at least 100 nice ones. But is still gets to me.

I got a response from him, claiming that his entire email was meant as a good-natured jest.
If I am the only one that sees it as insulting, considering I had never heard from the guy before, lemme know.
I'm not above saying "mea cupla", but I certainly think that looks like an insult and not a "joke", as he claims it was intended.

michael, put up a poll to see just how many people find it insulting. i betcha that 99% of the vote will turn out finding it insulting.
man, that guy's a true a$$h0le.

I think the 'it was all meant in jest' is simply covering for acting like a d!ck. In a way I think that is worse, one of the worst traits in people is that passive-aggressive "come on, can't ya take a joke" mentality, that is really just a cover because they don't have the fortitude to stand behind what they say.
I think you're initial read was spot on. This site is very high on my list for credibility, and that owes to the way you approach things, which is quite balanced.
I wouldn't let people like that upset you, as a rule they are not worth the time or reasonable, rationale people.
Just my two bits...

jeesh! I took his email as him jagging you. Maybe he's afraid of being banned?
I posted an "My 6800 is a piece of crap" post on howard forums and got banned for life - no explenation. There was no profanity in it and I actually had valid points (such as all of it's failings along with an email from a Nokia rep that said support was dead on it). I took that banning from the Nokia forum dictator as the same type of thing - "I paid a lot of money for my piece of crap and you have no right to put it down" or they just get a lot of "support" from Nokia so they protect them.
But if I got banned for saying that Nokia hasn't done anything creative or quality in years, this guy should be VERY worried about being banned after ripping on the site owner...

who ever coined the term "asshat" deserves an Alf T-shirt. I love that word! Also, your reviews have been pretty spot-on on with opinions I had formed on the same items I had tried. I wouldn't worry about that dork...

That's pretty shocking. We don't mind if you post something like that as long as there isn't too much profanity, and you have valid points. Thankfully, we haven't had to ban too many people (only 2-3) and that was only because they were spamming our forums with ads or making offensive posts.

Michael,
if I were in your shoes, I would grab a rock from the cave and turn him into ketchup...
Smile my Friend and p@ss him off :)
It is good that you do not lose your temper, Michael. I wish i could say that for myself. If i were you ... but, fortunately for this guy, i'm not.

Truthfully, while I generally can ignore idiots, this was not such an occasion.
My reply to him was tempered a bit, and still coherent, but I was quite angry. Had I any notion that he was trying to be funny (which I still debate), I would have just sent him a message on tact/humor, instead of the lashing that I sent.
