During the buildup to the V600s release it seemed to me that it was going to be a worldwide release. As the presumed/hoped for late Jan 2004 release date is drawing near, I'm beginning to wonder if the V600 is going to be released in SE Asia at the same time or at all. Moto's SE Asia homepages (Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines) don't make any mention of the V600. Most of the mobile shops I inquired at here in Bangkok were only aware of the V690 and V878. They are already advertising those two models as coming soon. Other places told me that Motorola wasn't even going to bring the V600 to Thailand.

I'm aware that Motorola is marketing the V690 and V878 specifically to the Asian market, but I didn't think they would do so to the exclusion of their flagship model for the rest of the world. Nothing against the V690 and V878 but I need Bluetooth, and the quad band is strongly desireable.

Does anyone have any info concerning Moto's plans for the V600 in SE Asia and Thailand in particular?

Thanks

It is coming to Australia (I called Motorola Australia and they gave me the late Jan release date) so I doubt it wouldnt come to Thailand. If it doesnt just buy one from Aus.

In special promotional DVD versions of the Hong Kong movie "Cell Phone" which are being sold in Wal-Mart in Mainland China, Motorola has a promotional banner on the bottom of the box highlighting most of their latest offerings...

I didn't pay a lot of attention, but I noticed that they featured

the v290, v300, v690, v878, AND the v600...

Anyway, while the v600 is taking its sweet time coming to Asia, I think it will eventually be sold...

Asia is such a huge market, Motorola needs money, early reports seem to indicate that production v600 phones kick much ass...I can't believe that it wouldn't come out at all.

It's probably just going to be really late. :(

It is taking it's sweet old time to get anywhere.

Mot began promising that I would have one in early September. 4 months ago.

Needless to say, I don't even ask them about it anymore.

What a joke.
