Which of these phones should i get? Im specifially interested in camera quality and how good pictures show up on screen. I thought the V600 would be better coz of higher resolution but i've heard the E700 is better. How is this possible?

Also i need it to be good at SMS. Im used to Nokia so i need the best one.

And please only answer if you've used the V600. Dont just assume please.

This was taken with a V525 which has "exactly" the same camera as the V600

There are certain basic things with all small cameras that you cant eliminate.

A. they are fixed focus and the focal length is usually about 50cm to infinity. What this means is that they will be slightly fuzzy at 50cm and at infinity, lol.

B. You will also notice the spycam fisheye effect, note how it goes blurry out to the edges. All phone cameras will do this, it is because of their size and the curve of the lens that is necessary to give you a wide enought veiwing plane.

C. Good quality digital cameras will give you good contrast, lighting and color. Little cameras in phones probably cannot reproduce this sort of quality.

Looking at the above I would say it is blue shifted. The bricks should be redder and the dogs coat a deeper brown. But for a phone camera I believe it has good light balance and is fairly clear.

Also I just noted that you said look better on the phone. This doesnt have as much to do with the camera as with the display, whichever has the largest and highest resolution display will display photos better.

I actually have a v600 and I would say its about what you want in your phone. I have had use of an e700 and have to say whilst its a good phone and looks nice too, it lacks bluetooth, its ringtones are not compatible with any other phone that we tried to send from, ie all were rejected via infra red (its not that good in my opinion) and the texting is still a bit of a pain. Thats my opinion. As a phone the v600 wins hands down (both of my brothers had a e700 and one asked me to sell it for him after 3 weeks). Its a touch heavier but made of metal. The inner screen is excellent as is the camera, although not quite as good as the samsung it is far far better than the one on my previous t610.
It has bluetooth, poly and mp3 ringtones and I was able to transfer pictures and ringtones effortlessly via bluetooth from my t610 to it. Add to this video playback and quad band facility and you have a fantastic phone. The menu system is easy to use I find and you can customise it too. The texting is now on a par with nokia too in my opinion. Of course it is a matter of taste and neither phone is a lemon but personally I would go for the v600....if you can get your hands on one! Try your o2 shop...thats where I got mine from.

I have ordered from O2 as well. Did you get a bluetooth headset in the box with the phone? I ordered over the phone not online. Would have ordered online but as I am a student I got the phone for £44.99 by ordering over the phone on the £25 a month tarrif.

My mate said that he has tried the V600 in an O2 highstreet shop and it came with a bluetooth headset worth £70 in the box included with your phone. However the handset is more expensive in the highstreet so I am just wondering if you get the same box from the net?

As O2 phones come unbranded and unlocked direct from the manufacturer I would have thought this headset was a standard in-box feature?

I would wait for the Nokia 6620 as well but only if I was a Nokia fan-boy.

Nokia phones are tired man...believe me these motorola v phones are well worth the wait. Downloaded the verve mp3 ringtone and it is fantastic...like listening to the radio. And yes I got the bluetooth headset with the phone...just got mine sim free because I couldnt wait another month until I could upgrade and got the only one that the shop had!!! I will get another when I upgrade and sell one...there will be plenty of takers.

I just find nokia phones all the same these days and the screen needs to improve too...

Agreed Nokia are tired. Their designs are either boring or weird. Their screens are the worst on the market. The NGage is a disaster and so badly designed it is useless as a phone and arkward as a games console.

The 6600 and 6100 are reasoable handsets but pretty boring and ugly in comparison to the Samsung and Motorola phones in my opinion.

Nokia should sack their designers (!) and don't deserve to be market leaders ahead of Samsung, Motorola and Sony.

And now.. Can anyone please tell me which of these phones is better... Motorola v600 or Nokia 6230... Please help me. BTW, I should really appreciate a good review of the V600 and any of the here owners to inform if they have had any issues with the phone or what shortcomings does it have... What dissappointed them and what was good... Thanks in advance.

I had a lot of Moto models (still haven't tested V600 yet) and one of the important things I was always dissapointed with it are listed below:
1) slow sms displaying (usually in second part of sms text): If you a fast sms writter, it could drive you crazy
2) Moto didn’t realize that it is a pretty nice feature to ring and vibrate in the same time…

I agree that with your opinion regarding Nokia design, but still, using my experience, I expected Nokia 6230 will be the best buy.
Don’t you think guys software is more important than design?
E700 can’t download pictures from comp directly, can vibe and ring simultaneously, had not profiles…
I expect 6230 could download ringing tones from comp, had timed profiles, shortcuts, and average display. Plus, radio could wake you up! Great!
At the end, it is question of taste…and needs….
