I have recently purchased a Samsung D720. While it is a Samsung, it's running S60 OS and the only help I've been able to receive on it has been from Nokia sites. This phone comes w/ the TI 192 MHz processor, but my phone LAGS and LAGS. Does anybody know of a way to speed it up a bit? I'm used to the standard Samsung that's always lightning quick. Your help is always appreciated!

Panasonic made some Series 60 phones.

So did Siemens (the SX1). Nokia are only the main shareholder in Symbian.

When you say it lags, on what sort of things? Texting, general menu operations .... ?

I've used a few S60 phones, from the old 7650, to my SX1. 3650s, 6260s, 6680s, etc. and they ALL lag on the menus to some extent. Its just the way the UI seems to be designed on them.

Mainly the text messages tend to lag quite a bit. It's a slider and the unlock keypad message tends to make the phone lag too sometimes. It's just a minor inconvenience and if there's nothing that I can really do then oh well I guess.

Be careful about mixing your terms there. Symbian is the base operating system, made by a company that Nokia are the main shareholder in. The above post was referring to S60, which is a Nokia-made user interface for the Symbian operating system. There are other interfaces for Symbian, such as Sony Ericsson's UIQ.

But he was right in correcting him ^ about that S60 isn't specifically a Nokia thing. S60, while it was developed by Nokia, was made open to other manufacturers willing to pay, which of course was Panasonic, Samsung, Sendo, and Siemens. It's a slider and the unlock keypad message tends to make the phone lag too sometimes.I've found that the unlock keypad always takes long on Samsungs, though, so I imagine that that may due to it being Samsung. I could be wrong though...
