Hey guys umm I just bought a O2 XDA IIs umm for :D :D 300$US and I dont want to describe you how I got it, I have never used O2 phones before and the CD in the package was broken I bought the phone from the grey market so was wondering where can I get its USB drivers and some well known applications for the phone. Please dont tell me to hunt through the forums this thread can be good for other O2 users too they will get all the latest links for their phone. And tell me the popular applications too so I can buy them online :D.

Was confused weather to post this in GPD or Lounge so posted it here anyway.

Just FYI this phone is sold under many different manuf. in other countries. Namely Qtek 9090, i-mate PDA2k, T-Mobile MDA III and Orange SPV M2000.

Most important software to get for WM2003 devices is a Task Manager, I'm now using InClose Mobile, have it only for a few days. So far, it seems like a very good Task Manager... in fact, it's the only free Task Manager that I found "usuable" on WM5, :)

InClose Mobile - http://www.insoftwarehouse.com/desktop/products/inclose/index.php?l=en

Also, good to get a Today application launcher and Profiles support for phone edition. I'm using the following:-

cLaunch - http://pachome1.pacific.net.sg/%7Ewelic/claunch.html
Phone Profiles - http://www.winmobileapps.com/device/pocketpc/plt/plt.aspx

That's the 3 "essential" software for PPC, the rest will depend on individual usage. For more software, check out the following sites:-

I'm using Dopod 838, I have written a review on it that includes some simple guides to make your PPC works better, url - http://forums.mobileburn.com/showthread.php?t=12524

I read that the lastest firmware for IIs is quite stable, can be obtained from O2 site at http://www.seeo2.com, not sure if you can register since you brought it from the the grey market.

PPCs tends to go haywire more easily than Symbian, it takes some experiment and experience to handle it, backup often and prepare for some hard reset before you can use it efficiently, :)

Take care of the slider, it is reported to become loose very easily.

Am actually not planning to use it for so long, the new ATOM has come out and everyone is going for it GOD knows why I hate that thing. Thanks a lot for the info.

Just wanted to know one last thing how do I check the software version of my phone and can it be upgraded?

That's ok, you've put in effort to learn and use it, that's much better than making unfounded complains or listen to rumours.

ATOM also quite popular in Singapore too, I don't like the ATOM too, :)

Software version is located in Settings -> Device Information.

The offical source to get the update and free O2 application is O2 web site, or you can go to their service center. If you can't, try asking for the firmware from PPC forums, try http://www.xda-developers.com.

Busy with the phone?

Like your aggressiveness, challenging the "unofficial" firmware within such a short time!!! Good luck, :)

Actually I have flashed it around 7-8 times till now installed the WM5 WiKi TuMa version it, was really good but little slow and buggy so back to the stable ROM for now. That site is really interesting.

Current Specs are :

ROM - 1.40.00WWE
Date - 03/10/05

Radio - 1.15.00

Protocol 1337.45

More or less the resources are for the firmware upgrades and not the programs of the device. Do check these out.

Shun you should install this rom, you dont have to download all those apps that you mentioned they come into the device already installed.

Check it out

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SpecialEditionROM

Moreover the WM5 has been re-installed :D and is working fine now more-or-less

Thanks, but downloads is the "funnest feature" in PPC, keep me from getting bore with the phone for months, :D

Also, I have to keep my phone's firmware intact to work on some mobile application, not too good to test on unoffical firmware.

I think you should do a write out on your experience, going through so many firmware updates, seems quite interesting, :)
