Suppose the camera was set on high..how many pictures can i take before the 2mb memory runs out?

say if each pic is 30k big, then 2000k / 30k = 66.67.

o man, that really blows......

are u sure? what about medium?

snapshots by the 7250i camera on high takes only 17 mb and i was really hoping it would be only 20 for z600.

Correct me if im wrong 1000 kb = 1 mb?

why did the z600 have to have a 2mb memory???

hey! yup, my 7250 has an average of 20k pics, so if we assume the z600 will do the same then 2000k/20k = 100 pics, which is good. on my 7250 i have around 110 pics and thats 2mb. yup 1000k = 1mb. haha no idea! i guess sony ericsson wanted to make it a little cheaper by putting less memory.,

but don't forget that there are also other things using up the 2mb memory. you have wallpapers, ringtones, etc..

valor

yeah, ill probably be deleting the bad ones

Does it come with wallpapers and ringtones with 2 mb or is the memory already subtracted?

tbh, i don't know, since i've never used a z600. i just kinda assumed that it would be like that, since most phones are like that.

valor

comes with what?

like the phone company advertises that there's 2mb built in memory, but only 1.2mb are user accessible, or something.
remember, this is only an assumption!

the free memory that u can use is 2mb, but it's divided for ringtones, pics, mms, games & themes (including the pre-installed).
to tell u the truth, 2mb is not enough, since I like to collect tones, themes, games, & pics of my contacts 2 use it for caller id.
and the camera's quality is average. u have to make sure there's enough lights of u'll be dissapointed with the result.
but anyway, it's your call.

yup.. if ur after a clamshell, go for z600 1rst.. t650 is still beyond the clouds...
btw, i've found a convinient way to collect themes, ringtones, etc.. i keep them in my pc!! i'll upload whatever i want, whenever i want back to my z600!!
that way, i'll have MORE than 2MB.. *grin*
z600 is around $450-$460 in my country.

Out of the box you can store about 10 additional photos. You can free up room for plenty more by removing the games and themes that are shipped with the phone.

But honestly, you don't want to use the camera anyway. To say that it stinks would be an understatement of kind. It's a good thing you can name the pictures, otherwise you'd have no idea what they're supposed to be of.

It's a great phone with a horrible camera. Personally, I don't see the point of having a camera at all, and would much rather have a slightly smaller handset. The Z600 is a bit chubby when folded.

cddover, i won't be thinking 'bout my phone IF i'm in the middle of a desert *lol*

skip, like i said, the pic will turn out nicely if u can manage a sufficient lighting. btw, what phone do u use? hav u get a hold z600 for a day or two? just wondering, since u seem to have bad image about it..

I'm speaking of personal experience, being a Z600 user since early December.

I agree that good lighting naturally improves the pictures taken, but the Z600 problems are far worse than bad light. The cheap plastic lens distorts the image and makes light unbalanced across the picture. The fixed focus makes everything slightly fuzzy around the edges. Even worse, the placement of the trigger combined with no image stabilizing software makes it virtually impossible to take a picture without motion blur.

Admittedly, I'm picky when it comes to photos. I regard my Digital IXUS (the original) as mediocre, at best. But even in the cell phone market, I've seen so much higher quality than what the Z600 performs.

Bottom line: If you're in the market for a great phone, get the Z600. If your in it for a phone with a camera, get something else, probably a Japanese phone.

well valor, if u are looking a phone to substitute your camera, it's a dead end. err, yeah, probably a japanese phone will do.. i heard gx20 is excellent. but imo there's no camera phone that can match up a real camera (yet)

the CIS camera is NOT the reason why the Z600 is bulky when folded down. take sharp gx10/gx10i/gx20 and panasonic's GD87/88 for example, all those have a built in camera and similar length and width dimesion yet the height or thickness is approx 5-6mm less than the Z600. spose this phone is dedicated to people with slightly larger hands or something cos imagine trying to text with soemthing the thiness of a sandwhich bread when your hands are slightly larger than the average joe.

inregarding to the 2MB storage capacity, it is shared between themes, pics, and ringtones as mentioned previously by another fellow member. you can delete most of factory ones but yet there are predefined ones which can not be deleted without the 13 sec method mentioned in other forums

In that case. I wouldn't be thinking of themes, I'd be thinking I should have gotten that damn satellite brick so I could get some help getting out of the desert! :p

I can't wait to see the Sony Ericsson Z1010 :D Expandable via MS duo and imagine the amount of pictures one can snap using the camera
