hi there,
it seems that all the carriers in the philippines are now having their own versions of unlimited texting (and calling)...
what is your view regarding this 'unlimited texting'... is it good to have it, or is it bad? I think that if you're the sender or if you want to carry on a long conversation quietly thru text - then it's good. But on the receiving side - would you like it still, if say for example, you keep on receiving text at 2am in the morning?
on the hardware side... it seems to favor nokia phones because they're great for texting, they're fast and easy to use. Samsung and SE phones, on the other hand, are not too popular for this. It also seems to favor smartphones more than dumbphones - because most smartphones dont have a 'text storage' limitation.
what do you think, is "unlimitxt" good or bad?
cheers!

There's an easy solution if you don't wanna receive texts in the wee hours of the morning...TURN OFF YOUR PHONE! Or put it on silent...at least the message alert part. Big deal...
If people want to develop Repetitive Strain Syndrome and/or Carpal Tunnel, that's they're business I suppose. I myself don't have the time or patience to be texting everyone and everything 24/7, so I'm pretty content with 800 a month. Some though seem to need/want it, so to each his own:)

Unlimited text is always good.
Problems mentioned (receiving text early hours of the morning) would be a general fault for most things, therefore would not consitute as soley a problem for unlimited texts.

well sharp phones are actually good for texting, they have a suprisingly large capacity for texts. the only thing about having such a large capacity is that when you want to delete all of the messages, it takes a good amount of time.

Definitely! That's why it's good to have a phone that can mark multiple messages for multiple deletions simultaneous (mainly S60 and other smartphones)...one of the main reasons I can't stand "dumbphones"

So case closed: unlimited texting is good.
Unless anyone can find why its bad, (doubt it)....

mmm... cant say that it's actually "bad", but I think that most dumbphones would not be so adept, if the user is on unlimited texting.
just imagine receiving more than 50 texts a day?.... given that most dumbphones have a 150 to around 200 text storage limitation... then in a matter of 4 days only, your phone gets full, and you wont be able to receive anymore.
unlike with a smartphone - wherein you can store thousands in that mem card.
cheers!

Simple.
Delete. Set save messages to 24 hours or less, if possible.
There's no direct disadvantage of unlimited texting, however there are indirect disadvantages that as you pointed out are handset dependent.
