Alright, I know this sounds so noob-like, but I am seriously at the edge of sanity. I just got a 6620 which I was hoping to just easily transition from my N-Gage, seeing as how it SHOULD have had restore from memory card. But for some reason, ever since backing my N-Gage over Bluetooth through the PC, I haven't been able to back it up over the memory card, and much to my dismay, there is the back-up file to restore from my memory card. To make matters worse, I tried backing up using another card but that still made the phone scream "System error!"
So I backed up my N-Gage over Bluetooth, and then reset it, which then allowed me to back up (whatever little) phone settings there were right after reset. So I thought I could just restore my N-Gage from my PC, right? But of course, I had installed a different PC Suite for the 6620 before which for some STUPID reason deleted my backups from the PC Suite for my N-Gage. So I just lost ALL my messages and notes, and a lot of my contacts and calendar info (which "fortunately" were saved on Outlook).
What's more, I still can't get my 6620 to work with PC Suite, and Nokia Connection Manager keeps giving error messages that "PC Suite failed: reinstall PC Suite" when I've ALREADY reinstalled it!
Going back to the 6620, is there something I'm missing? Can you not restore settings from an S60 1st Edition to a 2nd Edition handset?? Cause NO matter what card it will just not have the option to restore! Or could it possibly be the AT&T firmware:mad:
Any help is GLADLY appreciated...I am seriously either about to kill myself from the frustration or throw the phone against the wall...I'm seriously this close to hating S60 now. And that's when you know I'm desperate...:(

Sorry, i had the same problem when i tried backing up my N-gage files to restore in the 6260 but to my greatest surprise i could not, with all my endeavours i manage to get the my pc-suite to crash and ask for re-install. I could not install cause due to the errors u mentioned. I was running in windows xp sp1( mind u i had pc suite for the 6230 on my computer). I had to use the windows restore tool to go back to an earlier date when the system was still stable. I got my N-gage files back to the N-gage, after that i ugraded the system to win xp sp2, headed to Nokia to get the latest pc suite. Though i had to return the 6260 [ Thank goodness i made that decison] cause i could not still get the back up to work on it( I dont know why) but i had my data back on my N-gage.
When i complemented the 3250 wit my N-gage i had to manually transfer some important info (contacts, tasks, to-do list, calendering info) as for the others i had to live on wit it.

I don't trust the backup at all.
For contacts, calendar, notes you should have used "Data Transfer" over bluetooth.
Don't throw your phone against the wall. Just play with your 6620 as if it was your first phone. Put your settings in manually. It won't take long. Over time you will have filled up your 6620 with all the things you want. The time it takes to try and back up and restore, you could have manually put everything back in.

I know I know...but it is very sad having lost all those notes and messages (I should think you'd empathize referring back to the message capacity thread)...and I also realized my bookmarks! GAH!
*sigh* so I've got a lot of work to do then:p

Well I've lost near on a thousand saved messages before - that thread was just me being antagonistic. :D I just feel I have to defend the view that isn't being represented fairly. To a point devil's advocate :D
The point is if it goes it goes. If my messages were to somehow delete themselves then there we go. I'd be a bit miffed it it happened randomly, but if I knew the cause then I would just ignore it and try not to do it again next time.
My contacts, I always have a copy on my PC, thats by copying the saved contacts in nokia file manager. That's probably my most indispensible set of information in my phone.

To backup messages you need to copy the messages folder to your memory card and then to the new phone and do it by hand. The 'index' file however won't let itself be copied though, and this is what makes the phone read the copied messages. To make it available for copying, I read somewhere else (and tested it) that a way to unlock it is to initiate the Backup utility and then copy it. This worked from my 6260 to my 6630. The messages are safe so long as you copy them from the old phone and perform any work on the new phone only. This way you won't overwrite the originals.

Okay so I've cooled down by now (thanks for the insight btw Jose;)) but now I still face not being able to get PC Suite to recognize my 6620. I'm using the PC Suite that was included with the software disc that came with the phone...
And also, does anyone know where to get OEM faceplates for it? Or do the 6600 faceplates work for it too? Seems like no, but I just want confirmation...

Are you sure it's PC suite and not the bluetooth driver?
Why not try and use the latest PC suite.

Well the Bluetooth seemed to work excellently for the N-Gage PC Suite...as well as just for regular file transfers and such over both phones.
In addition to installing the one on the CD, I installed the PC Suite from the Nokia website that was supposed to work with the 6620. I guess I'll just go back to backing it up on the memory card again...that was foolproof before:cool:
Btw, so does anyone know whether 6600 faceplates will fit on the 6620?? I would find out myself soon enough, but my week is packed and there's no time to go to the mall. Also, is the middle housing generally compatible with a few modifications for the Pop-port, or are they completely different?
