I have some questions for you.
I just subscribed for TmobileWeb and was wondering if I could use my T610 to navigate some sites.
I made all the possible settings, I even requested the OTA message for both TmobileWeb and Tmobile internet (although I don't have a subscription for this one).
I dialed *99***1# and it registered on the network BUT I can't access anything. No Yahoo, no Google, no Amazon. There is no traffic coming in. I can see I'm connected and I am assigned and IP address.
Then I dialed *99***2# and nothing; well, I kinda expected that one because I don't have full Tmobile Internet access - only tzones.
My question is, how could I access the web - I don't need full access, but just what is allowed on the tzones?

You should be able to access all those sites...I access them daily, and I still have the old plan. Call up customer care and tell them to help you...cause obviously you're paying for something that's not working:cool:
With T-Mobile, it's either unlimited or pay-as-you-go GPRS, so if you have the plan, you should be good to go...

Agreeing wiyh carcomptoy, you definately should call a rep and explain them whats going on in the simpliest of ways.
Im paying for it, it seems to be conecting, I set it up according to directions, and its not working :)
It could be something as simple (for them) as pressing a button, or it may be your phone.
Best thing to do it call a rep :)

Can anyone explain the real difference between these web/data plans, especially the accessible services in the first two options:
T-Zones (2.99)
T-Mobile Web (5.99)
T-Mobile Internet (29.99)
I have unlimited T-zones and can use Opera to browse most websites with no apparent data limit. However I'm not able to access any streaming data, connect to radio sites/apps, or tether with Useful Skype GPRS. Maybe T-mobile do not allow the appropriate ports to work with just T-zones?
Are these possible with the $5.99 T-mobile web service, and if so are there any limits on data downloading? Does this also come with a certain number of free SMS/MMS messages?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

TMobile Internet is full internet access: Tzones is WAP access (5.99), and basic Tzones (2.99) is the old tzones which is also WAP Access. No Tzones allows for free SMS or SMO (text). Becuase Tzones is WAP only, you can only go to WAP enabled sites, Tmobile internet allows full GPRS and WAP coverage, with out a limit. NOw to answer the T610 question, have you ever been suspended or service interrupted? If so, there is a switch in the back end of the acct that only TECH can get to, and some times it doesnt automatically come back on when service is restored. Tmobile will have to manually reset it. IF NONE OF THIS HELPS, call CS, ask for TECH support, and file a trouble ticket.

tzones is not WAP only...I know you may argue since you were once T-Mobile Tech Support, but then how do you explain my being able to go to HTML websites?

I agree with carcomptoy - Tzones and TmobileWeb are not WAP only, and both these services can be used to view most regular websites via a third party browser such as Opera or NetFront. Plus Tzones I also seem to have unlimited SMS and MMS and no MB limit on my web browsing.
I just want to know what benefits TmobileWeb has over Tzones, and what TmobileInternet has them both, before I know whether it's worth upgrading my stupidly cheap Tzones.
Currently on Tzones I cannot access streaming data or utilize radio applications that use GPRS.

wap is just the mobile gate way, HTML is HTML so matter how you slice it. it typically dosnt support SSL (at least with tmo)
wap uses html just like every other web technology.

The trick with T-MobileWeb (or T-Zones are two things:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
and HTTP Proxy: 216.155.165.50 (port 8080)
That's it.
But here's a site that will help you set up your Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 SE & 5.0 and even your Laptop (yep)
And with it you can surf any website (wap or not) and POP3 Emails, and (with the laptop only) use skype and MSN Messenger (but for Chating only, no talking)

Enjoy
