I'm glad they're finally on Symbian, but it looks like you'll need 3G or a WIFI phone to enjoy it. Which means no free voip to US customers, unless you're in range of WIFI (hotspots, open networks, at home, etc).
Maybe you can drop the quality down a bit and do it on Edge (fingers crossed).

That's pretty awesome! Coincidentally, my friend posted a bulletin on MySpace advertising Skype...I was wondering when it'd be available for S60

yes but the question is, how many KB would a 20-30 minute call on SKYPE over 3G cost since my operator charges per KB of download.(untill Nokia wifi phones are available)
i guess the only way of knowing is to reset the data counter(download/upload), make a 20-30 minutes call on skype over 3G, then check the data count again and see the downloaded/uploaded KBs.
the whole point of skype(VoIP) is the free calls, if using 3G is extremely cheap, i wouldnt mind it untill wifi Nokia phones are available.
unless series 69 offers better options! lol

Your operator doesn't have unlimited data? I would have thought YOU of all people marwan would have that!;)
If downgrading to EDGE like dmitri suggested would be possible, I would be all for it since I already have unlimited GPRS!

This application is supposed to be able to use either 3G or GPRS for this to communicate with your PC so we could utilize it for Voip calls in the US. However using my old $2.99 unlimited T-mobile GPRS account, I can't get my 6680 to connect to my PC or Skype :-(

wow - our unlimited plans are extremely expensive...like £75!
The cheapest GPRS plan is still more expensive than your unlimited!

Box215, I take it that the $5.99 unlimited plan still lets you fully use the web via Opera/Netfront?
Can you also get the various different radio apps (eg Avec or Sydus) to work as the $2.99 plan doesn't allow the required ports?

i don't have the apps on hand so try a google search for "sydus mobile" or "avec radio" and install on your phone

I thought the old $2.99 and the $5.99 plans offered the same services but just different prices due to inflation? Well, I guess it's a good thing that we get something more when we pay more:rolleyes:
I used DorisBrowser a while back (which I guess is similar to Opera/NetFront) and I had no problems...Box, if you can get Sydus to work on your N70, then I'm getting the $5.99 plan in a snap!:p
I have unlimited GPRS for something like US$8 per month. But there are so many users and the latency is so bad that Sydus stutters when I try to listen to it in the evening. I'm planning to switch to another operator that has EDGE, but they cost $8/month for either 140 hours or 140 MB. Probably gonna go for the 140 hour plan. (Sydus uses about 9 MB per hour.)
To keep this slightly on-topic. The new beta version of useful-skype is actually workable over GPRS. Pretty slow but I could carry on a conversation. Gonna give EDGE a try later.

FRiC, what network are you using to connect with Skype over GPRS? Sounds like Box215 has got it working using T-mobile US.

guys, i need a link is it available yet? a beta perhaps?
Notice I said "useful-skype", it's the thing that runs on your PC and your phone and creates a link between the PC and phone. Your PC does the actual calling. (URL is www.useful-apps.com)
My backwater parts of the planet doesn't have 3G yet. :(
