You've got to love the comment that the new Motoral W220 will be the RAZR for the masses. Pardon me, but isn't the RAZR already the phone of the masses?! :D

Most handsets sold these days are from the low-end, budget phones are the phones for the masses - hence the W220. While the RAZR is popular, it is for people with more money to spend. Ask any of the people that work in phone shops here, they will tell you that most of the handsets they sell are Nokia 1100s and such.

Brad's right, thats exactly the kind of phone we sell.
Would you believe that next to the Nokia 1100 the next best selling phone is the Sagem MyC5-2V or the Alcatel E256? Just goes to show what the public REALLY seem to want rather than all the features we crave.

I feel it is just a matter of time until the younger generations get older, then more feature rich handsets will sell. right now you still have older parents who do not want to be confused with features, and are still getting used to having a cell phone on them and turned on at all times. Once "generation X" becomes parents feature rich phones will be the majority sold. Just my opinion.

RAZR for the masses? Not in the US...the RAZR is selling for free in a lot of places w/ contract...is there something better than free? ;).

You'll be suprised how many people are on PAYG and not contract.

Oh, ok, then it's cool :p. I was just thinking about my school and how being on PAYG is "not the cool thing to do"...lol

Yeah. I'm on contract, but that's 'cause my dad let me go on contract, a lot of my friends parents don't want to have to pay a contract for them, because they'd overspend, whereas on PAYG that's not possible! Although I think T-Mobile's Mix It is a great idea for parents who only want to pay "x"amount.

I still don't understand the concept of Mix It...care to elaborate?

Is that like when here in the US if you get the special T-Mo plan, it's basically a contract, but it won't let you go over your minutes unless you buy an extention? Basically PAYG that renews every month...

Er, it's called T-Mobile Mix It. That's the name, plain and simple. Check T-Mob website maybe?

No I mean here in the U.S. obviously...edeab220 and TheZodiac mentioned of a Mix-It style plan, but they didn't specify the actual name.
