I dont think they can be unlocked simply via a code.

They can be unlocked by code, you can only get the code from the locked network.

my N70s been unlocked. carphone warehouse swapped phones for me, and i got an O2 phone instead of orange. when i questioned if it would work, they told me it was unlocked. dunno how they did it tho. but shows it CAN be done.

Is this just because O2 don't seem to lock their phones?

I've had lots of O2 phones (including 6630 and 6680) and althought they have some O2 branding (screensaver etc) they work on all networks.

Having said that, the last O2 phone I bought from Carphone Warehouse had no O2 branding and appeared to be an unlocked phone.

It's the Symbian lock down baby ! tried everything and cannot unlock my N70 for love nor money...

Provider can supply code though for £20 ! well in UK anyway...

The 3 network will not provide an unlock code, it is a condition of their sale.
