Thanks SE and no thanks, specs wise cool, but no camera, no wifi, Come on SE can do better. I don't have UMTS in my location but atleast a camera ll be fine. If the camera version ll be launch close to the launch date of W950, i may well be interested and pls they should not forget wifi.

err.. not 100% sure why i would pick this over the m600? will be interesting to see the prices between those two as well as relative ro N91. other than price, N91 still seems more interesting at this point with its wifi and camera and 3.5 plug.

The W950 has size in its favour and touch screen over the N91, but I understand where you are coming from ;)

Touchsreen cool, nice widget to have to wheeze around, but pls no 3.5mm plug that is another let down for me(Don't get me wrong the phone is great), as i said i dont have UMTS in my location, i could definetely appreciated good old edge. I have to agreed with Viipottaja that N91 still look great on the horizon (least we forget; N91 is running on a hard disk) but atleast it has wifi. I wouldn't mind a wifi add-on if possible.

Personally, i find it pretty easy to understand SE's reasoning behind the release of the these new UMTS devices with no camera....
M600 - Aimed at business users who require access to office based apps, email, VPN etc. So therefore no need for cam. Many company policys prohibit the use of camera's in the work place such as brokers, govt workers etc hence the popularity of blackberry...
W950 - Walkman phone, aimed at music lovers who are likley to d/l music via UMTS, rather than have video convos etc.
It makes sence for SE to expand their handset portfolio in order to ensure continued market share growth. We all now how it works... it is very rare for any manufacturer to produce a device that have EVERYTHING... its great for milking the market and keeping consumers wanting more. I am in no doubt that a Symbian/UMTS/3+MP/4GB phone will be released... but not before they get their mony's worth out of lesser devices, and when there is more technology to exploit.

W950 comes with following stereo bluetooth headset where you can replace the provided ear buds with your own (source: http://mobil.mkf.se/ArticlePages/200602/14/20060214082645_AHD893/20060214082645_AHD893.dbp.asp). The headset supports multipoint connection meaning it can be connected to your phone + a second device simultaneously. A more practical solution than having a 3.5 mm plug built into the phone IMO.

anyone noted the position of the walkman button plus the cancel button ?
its EXACTLY in the same way that NOKIA builds the symbian series 60 platoform phone. if you have owned a nokia 6600 or 6820 or any of them u would instantly get what i mean.
this is interesting. is this phone meant to be a Nokia-killer ?

Most people seem to think its an ipod killer. Perhaps the truth is somewhere inbetween.

I don't think this phone is meant to be the killer, just the beginning of SE's attack on Nokia S60 phones....

i meant the giant series 60 model. the 6680 , 6682 is the US edition. my bad a typo.
anyway , the button placing sure smells like traditonal series 60 placing of call/ menu buttons at the side of the keypad rather than SE's traditional positoning of it above the numerical keypad

Giant?? I hope you haven't seen the N-Gage:rolleyes:
In any case, if it had a camera, I'd pick this up in a moment...but alas no so yeah...
I still don't understand SE's reasoning. Most people who buy Walkman phones are expecting multimedia phones, so not having a camera kinda kills that. I do not understand...

Well maybe because its being targeted at all costs as a music phone.
As much as camera in phones have become the norm all resources had to push the music capabilities.
It is a shame though its not there.

...er like a normal one - just all the way (way way) down at the bottom.
Maybe it has to be held with indexfinger at around 3/4 up the back, middle, index pink follow. Otherwise it would indeed feel very top heavy.
I dunno, i think it would be ok. If the keypad is all that "unergonomic" then there's always the stylus.:)

Reasoning is that they can easily rebrand a M600 with the Walkman, it's very common (k750 and w800 is a good example) , appeal to a wider audience with essentially the same phone!

Its reported that both W950 and M600 keys are suprisingly confortable to use (you have to try it your self to verify it).
