Very very very very sad, because bluejacking people became my hobby:)
The bizarre thing is that BT was already in the S55. The ST55 is supposed to be an upgrade. No BT in the ST55 means there will be no chance I will buy it.

The only phone I'm going to buy is a T610 or Z600, I have patience. It'll take a couple of months but I don't care.

:(
What's the image res in the ST55? I know the S55 attachable was only a 96x96... which is pretty lame. And yeah, not have BT sucks - wonder why they did that?
But then again, I've always wondered why Nokia very rarely include BT in their phones... mayb it's a licensing thing?

Nope, I think because they (as a mass market brand) believe that the costs of including a BT chipset in every phone, and only having a very little number of people actually using it, is not worth it.

Guess so... but the amount of people I have asking me for a bluetooth Nokia is ridiculous... and when I show them the 6310i, they laugh at me :(
I would think phones like the 7250/i would benefit from BT... or mayb the 6610, which is (from what I understand) marketed at business people.
Hopefully Nokia changes it's tune in the future... as I see bluetooth becoming more and more popular (especially with the new laws regarding mobile phone use in cars).
Time will tell!
Well Nokia is unveiling their new range of phones very soon so we'll see then.
I think they realised that they lost a big chunk of the high-end phones market to the T610 simply because it had Bluetooth and the 7250 didn't.
Another thing is that when they do manage to put BT in, its usually very wierd and doesnt work with a lot of devices. Lets hope they have changed their thinking.

Do u have to include a subject when posting a reply, as it wouldn't let me reply without one?
Oh well... BT is not something important to me at the moment, but it is a feature i would like included in my phones for the future.

not sure that the ST is really an upgrade to the s55? think it is made by a different company anyway, and doesnt have the normal siemens features? the only improvement is the 65k screen

Thats right - they hired a Chinese company do make the hardware and slapped their software on it.
I can understand why the Bluetooth might not be there, but it really is inexcuseable.
Its too bad really, I liked the look of the ST55.

You can't expect too much of the ST55, it is not supposed to be a high-end phone. The S55 has Bluetooth because it is a business phone, the ST55 is more of an 'entertainment' phone. Hence while it loses out on connectivity, it makes up for it with a splendid 65k TFT display, 40-chord polyphonics and a VGA camera.
In fact, video recording and Java will be available in the ST55i software upgrade in Febuary, and standard ST55 users will be able to upgrade their phones as well.
I really hope it comes to Asia...

Ive fallen in love with Bluetooth. Any company who doesnt include Bluetooth in its new phones has lost a customer in me, and im sure in many others too.

That might be the case, but not in ALL of their non budget phones. Right now, you still can't buy a Nokia Series 40 phone with Bluetooth (apart from the 8910/i).
The only Siemens phone with BT on the market is the S55, which is not very competitive with the T610.

Well then it's too bad for you then, because most people who actually buy Bleutooth-enabled phones have no clue as to what Bluetooth is. The manufacturers have been smart to limit this feature's implementation because people wopuld buy these phones w/o BT anyway, saving the manufacturers the cost of puttiing it in their phones.

The same could have been said for color displays not too long ago. People were going to buy a phone one way or another, if nobody had color nobody would care. But now you can hardly sell one without color.
And actually, the cost of chipsets is less than $5 now in volume, and many of the manufacturers already have one or more Bluetooth phones, so the R&D has been largely done already.
Granted there is a retooling cost for the circuit boards, but if you are Nokia, that means you design in the space for one board and your next 10 models will all use it. Spreads the cost around. Plus you can just leave space for the chipsets, like Handspring has done with the Treo 600 (no BT, but the board has the spot ready for it already).

the lack of bt in the treo 600 is a deal breaker. i can live with everything else, lackluster screen res, non removeable battery. at this point bt is intergrated into all my other technology, car, laptop, headset.

Yeah, I feel the same way. But for most of the world that is not an issue. So excluding that, I thought the 600 was very cool. Felt good, was compact, seemed to work well.
