Even though I write and edit for a living these days, I still have words that I spell wrong every damn time. My two main trouble words are 'obviously' and 'guarantee.'

So what are everyone else's trouble words? Just curious...

This might not be the same thing, but sometimes, when I want to type the word "this" I end up typing the word "****".

Honest mistake, though, I think.

When typing quickly I often put the space in the wrong place, and it's happened a few times where it makes me look weird......e.g. "for wha tits worth" (I actually handed that in on a english essay for school, I learnt to proof read my work now!).

I always add in a colon when I should a semi colon....general typos are always a pain but my BB can figure it out without me looking silly.....

I can never spell ridiculas properly.

Of course, it reassures me that I can at least write in full English rather than the god forsaken 'text speak' thats destroying the English language...

When I think of words too much, as easy as they are, I doubt myself so much I doubt the word even exists and spell it wrong!

Also I blame MS WORD for making writing so easy...type type type. Spell Check. Writing on hand then having someone check it makes me learn words better.

I used to, about 5 years ago, was confused about how to spell "tomorrow".

I find writing by hand somehow makes me spell stuff right. Its like all the accumulated years at school have imprinted on my brain to make my hand write and spell the correct word. Spelling out loud I also find difficult, like with "onomatopoeia"

In school, during my childhood days (god its been that long already!) we have little rhymes to remember spelling.

In this case its "I before E except after C".

Yes there are certain exceptions but they didnt tell us , as so not to confuse.

That is a tricky one actually - effect is a consiquence, whereas affect is to have an effect on. To affect is to produce an effect.

Hehe...

LOL *consEquence;)

For some reason I've had trouble with "embarrassment" lately...I just double checked right now on the dictionary that it does have 2 r's and s's:p

Sad really considering I was in the National Spelling Bee...shameless plug I know:p:o

With names, I used always spell John as Jhon and I used to only ever write one L for Lloyd.

Names and double "ll" reminds me of one I used to find difficult.

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch

Its a place name which I can strangely spell and pronounce correctly.

Theres actually not meant to be a space. Just

llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio gogogoch

Its harder to pronounce than it looks too for most since the double "l" sounds like..um when you put the tip of your tongue on the roof of your mouth so theres a slight "hiss".

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantyssili ogogogoch is located on Anglesey and is the village with the longest place name in Europe. Translated into English it means “St Mary's Church in the hollow of white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and St Tysilio’s church near the Red Cave”.
