I was looking for a video of the Sony NWA (mp3 player) in action and I came across this (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-579612042933384370&q=sony)
I found that I was strangely drawn to this wierd quartet...they're kinda cute in a way.:D
I want one (I'll buy the group if I win the lottery:rolleyes:)
What they did over all was really cool/slash/ kinda poofy(camp) but I'm sure you could make them do more macho stuff...like er..play football (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1628606171927487238&q=sony++robots)?

Woah, the Asimo (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-404709263679719128&q=asimo) rocks!
Have they programmed this thing to interact with humans, or is it people doing the talking for it? (at least pressing buttons to expel sentences)
This seems to be a quite independent machine (it thinks about how to do something, e.g. walk (http://world.honda.com/HDTV/ASIMO/New-ASIMO-hand-in-hand/index.html)/run/going up stairs...
Does anybody know what those sony robots are called? I'm interested to see what they can do.
It would make a much more interesting episode of Robot Wars. hehe, like this: Aibo vs Thunder Lizard. (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1343222394162793574&q=aibo)
£1300 for a robot puppy? Not bad:D

Apparently Sony are ending production of AIBO according to T3 magazine, so get your orders in quick!

Ending production?!?!
Maybe they're in development of a new one.

Nope, its a cost cutting thing. They have ended several of their 'out there' kind of projects.

Yep that's right Brad, they want to become more streamlined - become a bit like Apple in the way they operate.

Aw that's too bad. I quite admired companies who diverted into "out there" projects, pushing the potential of technology, instead of just being mainly money centric.

Yeah I always wondered whether Asimo was FULLY independent...

The AIBO felt strangely real, like something you could pour a little emotion into. Like have you seen those videos of people stroking them, as if they were real? lol. AND the AIBO itself was reacting like a real pup?
Do you think the AIBO looks better as it is, or would it look nicer had it been (somehow) wrapped in fur to look like a real dog.

hmmm that's actually a tough one...I think though that I would prefer the robotic look cause the wannabe real dog look would just look like...a wannabe

I currently don't have any pets....would be something to consider and i wouldn't even need to walk it. But i think it would just be more of a collectors item for me .

Lol, yeah! It would never look like the real thing...
and if it did, it would look wierd since its motions would still be ever slightly robotic.
I like the sharper angular AIBO. the rounder snoopy one is not to my liking.
