Has anyone experienced problems browsing ebay when using Firefox.

There was a little problem where sometimes a search would open up in a text format with this message

""Note: We recently made changes to enable you to view eBay search pages faster. If your eBay pages are appearing in text-only format due to these changes, please upgrade your Web browser (http://sillydog.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10649#).""

Upgraded browser recommends using firefox 1 and higher

That wasnt so much of a problem because if I repeated the search it would appear as normal.

HOWEVER,

Now, when I try to open an item, - in the same window or in a new tab - firefox tries to open the link as if it were an app.

"OPENING PQI-256MB DV...

You have chosen to open

..806222QQcategory.....cmd2ViewItem

which is a: application/octet-stream
from: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk

What should firefox do with this file?

Open with [Browse]
Save to disk"

It used to do that (on rare occasions) when sending a question to the seller...

That wasn't much of a problem, but this is preventing me from viewing and thus bidding on items..

Its annoying using I.E.

ebay and firefox are quite weird at times. i am a frequent browser on ebay ( just got a std bt gps unit last week ) firefox chokes at times.

My suggestion? Upgrade to 1.6prea nightly build ... seems to handle ebay a lot better.

Well I use IE6 and I have had the same problem with ebay telling me to upgrade my browser. Just one of those things I guess.

I have Firefox 1.5.0.7, have been using it for over a year, and I just downloaded and installed the latest Sun Java. Ebay pages continue to 'hang' while loading. This is especially frustrating when trying (and failing) to place a bid in the last 30 sec. of an auction or trying to make a payment, because nearly every 'confirmation' button leads to a page that won't finish loading. This started happening (to me) about a week ago.

Once I walked away from the computer and came back hours later to find the page finally completed at some point, but that is certainly not reasonable or safe.

I experience the same problems with Netscape 7.2, so I am inclined to believe it is either: a) a Mozilla issue or b) an Ebay html issue or c) a Bill Gates annoybot.

Internet Explorer, which I haven't used for months, had no problems with Ebay.

I had that too (got outbid on several occasions because of those hangs) most recently a week ago. :BangHead:

With me, it also happens on Opera.

On another computer, the only browser that seems to work is FF. I.E., opera, avant all crash before connecting to anything.
