hi
i got a z600 like a month ago and in the last day or 2 a dead pixel has appeared near the middle on the right side of the screen
its just 1 pixel thats just green all the time and you can only notice it when you get close like when ur playing a game or looking at a picture or something but its starting to annoy me cos i paid all this money for this phone and i dont really want this dead pixel there
its got the 1 yr warranty so if i take it to a SE service center will they do anything aobut it ?

ehh tell me about it. i got a 17 inch flat screen computer monitor, and when the guy delivered it, it had a dead pixel right in the middle. the shop in which i got in from said they wouldnt replace it, even tho i persisted they broke it. and Acer wont replace it either. it cost SG$700. im really pissed. the computer and screen i got had a 1 year warranty, even paid more to make it a 5 year warranty! grr..:(
p.s. no one ever buy an Acer product. and dont buy from Challenger in singapore!
oh.. and sorry that i didnt help u booyah
LCD Screen with a few dead pixels is normal, most suppliers will not replace as long as it is within the limit.
There is a recommended limit, I forget the exact figures, check before you made any purchase.

i believe they'll only replace it if there are 5 or 10 dead pixels. my 6600 has a dead pixel too.

Why should we have to put up with dead pixels? We pay our money for a product which should be working as a brand new product would upon recieving it. If we buy a house with one window pane missing and complained we would expect the company who made the house to put one in free of charge, not say 'oh you have to have 2 windows and a door missing for us to do anything' Its ridiculous! Think about it, LCD 32" TVs and 17" TFT laptop screens can be made without any dead pixels so why can't mobile phone companies produce 'poxy' 2inch'ish x 1inch'ish screens without any dead pixels?

the world is so unfair.
The problem with dead pixel is due to manufacturing difficulty, the failure rate will be too high to achieve zero dead pixel, which will result in higher price.
LCD screen on laptop has dead pixel too, my Compaq notebook has 2 dead pixels.
Every vendor has different allowance for dead pixel, it is very bad that such information are not made known to the buyer.
My only advise is to check before you purchase.

I think its definitely unacceptable to have any dead pixels, although i too have heard that unless the number of dead pixels exceeds an allowable number the manufacturer is not liable to replace it. But with mobile phones that have tiny screens compared to laptops and desktop displays its a lot more noticable and annoying and i think there should be a zero tollerance level applied. I would be very p@$$*# off if i spent $1000 for a new phone and found a dead pixel on it, i'd go back and give them hell till the exchanged it!

-.- oh well, my worst fear is to find a dead pixel on my phone. im scared to get the p900 because of it. :S well, if anyone has the time, they should creat a website.www.anti-dead-pixels.org or something. eheh.
[note to dummies] the hyperlink above is not a real website
