Has anybody heard of this mobile solution?

I have been quite taken with the concept, as I understand it. For those of you who do not know about it, it is this: Instead of having your Phone/Connected PDA in one package it is split into smaller specialist "boxes"

SO you have a box that contains the GSM/CMDA/WI-FI unit(s) and the usual basic phone functions, that connects using BT to a dumb numberboard/display/mic/speaker unit to make a phone.

OR the base unit connects (BT) to your computer

OR the base Connects to a clever PDA/MINI computer and a headset

It strikes me as a really versatile idea you only ever need to buy the base unit "once" and can upgrade your periferals to meet your needs.

My Ideal solution would be GSM/W-CMDA unit with a 3.5" Wide-touchscreen wrist display/intelligent unit, headset and wireless credit card sized numberpad

What would you guys have? and What are your opinions on the concept?

I like the concept in general. That's why I prefer a separate PDA and phone.

What I want out of a phone is similar to that. Smallest possible package, Bluetooth. Throw a keypad on there, but make it small - I'm not worried about SMS from the handset. Mono display is fine for me if it makes it smaller/lighter/cheaper and gives better battery life.

Then let me choose the headset that I want and the PDA I want.

Boom. Instant PAN.

Or you could just give the SL55 Bluetooth and I would have everything I need now....

Take it out a few years in the future and I'd add a watch with a nice display on it so that the handset stays in my pocket, but I can still see what is going on.

That would be slick.

Obviously, after two years, we see that the future has gone converge rather than PMG. :D

hhhmm.... wondering what would be Michael's choice today. Still the same thing?
