I've had this phone for about 5 hrs. It is not compatible with sync software for the E700. It is only compatible with older Easy GPRS sync software from Samsung which doesn't interface with any major PIM/calendar apps like Outlook. It doesn't have as robust a calendar as my old Mot V60t. This phone is going back tomorrow. Getting a SE T610 or a Siemens instead. Also Samsung's own website says the OELD (no, it's really not OLED, OELD stands for organic electroluminescent display) is rated at 10000 on hours. That means the outside display is expected to fail after 417 continuous on days. That's just awful on top of horrid PIM and PC sync functionality.
Also the sync software is a 35 MB download. Since when did you need a 35MB install for a program desinged to move at most 200kB in a sitting without much processing. ALL of Mozilla is 11MB and it handles email, really super fancy java script, XML skins, intelligent popup filtering, tons of different protocols for transferring stuff, etc. etc. WTF Samsung. This software should be at least as robust as the stuff that worked for the V60, it should be included in the package if Samsung is going to push the whole IrDA thing.
So for all the complaining about stuff, the phone's voice quality is excellent. If you don't care much about PC sync and are only going to use IrDA to move images and ringtones, it's probably fine.
