hi there,

do you turn your phone off at night?

do you think it's bad if a cellphone is turned on for weeks (or months) at a time without even turning it off once?

cheers!

Nope, I don't think its bad at all. I never turn my phones off, unless it freezes or I'm in an area that cell phone use is prohibited. My phones are usually on for months at a time.

I was about to say that (on most phones, anyway) the alarm would still work even if the phone was off... :D

cheers!

I usually leave it on...unless I need to reboot to free up memory or switch phones:D

I think most of the people on this forum would have several handsets. I've got a K750, an N70, and an N90 on my desk next to me at the moment, as well as a D600 somewhere, plus all the other old ones I have laying around.

haha right?

See, I have multiple phones, but most of them aren't as prestigious as brad's K750i, N70, and N70...actually, NONE of them are:p

Hi, wouldn't your phone hang? It was adviced to me by the store that a smart phone should at least be turned off once a week so that the memory gets refreshed (like a computer), is this a wrong thing to do?

It's not wrong...rebooting clears up the RAM which keeps the phone happier. In cases like the N90 and N70 where it was a lot of RAM at its disposal, once a week isn't really necessary...however, with low memory issues on older smartphones like the 7650 and 3650, they need to be rebooted at least twice a week, if not more...

Of course, this is all depending on use...being a semi-power-user myself, I have to restart mine at least every other day...

Wasn't there quite a big debate over this some time ago at mobile burn ?

Anyway - I used to switch off my phone at nights before going to bed . Logic being I didn't have any contacts in different timezones or anybody who would call me at the dead of night on my cell . There was always the landline ....well things have changed ..my GF wants me to keep it on till 2am or so ..exchanging messages ..so I started thinking wtf ..let me keep it on all the while ...so its on all the time now .

The only time I reboot it is when there is the odd bad install or some post install requirement. :D

I dont turn mine off anymore since I use the alarm on it (yeah I know the alarm turns the phone on but I have multiple ones from calendar)

If I get a call its either missed or I wake up feel groggy and go back to bed. No biggie.

Yeah I can very easy go back to bed after being woken up...haha my friend can't though lol

Anyways, I though the alarm only turns the phone on when it's plugged in?
