Hello all,
Through a crazy turn of events, I've managed to get my hands on a V600. This week or weekend, I'm planning to write up a good review on it... I have to say that I'm surprised in a few areas.
I'm not claiming to be Michael, as I'm sure we'll all be reading his review when it's up. Just thought I'd share a sneak peak for everyone... as I'd hope you'd do the same!
I'll post a link soon with the review.
Cheers!

Sorry I wasn't able to get to it before the holidays... but I just saw this review and it's more extensive than I had planned on doing... so if you haven't seen it, check it out.

A couple personal impressions... I don't care for Moto phones in general, but really am impressed with this phone. I've tossed mp3s (small ones) on it for ringtones and the ringing audio performs better than any other phone I've run across. Hardware is solid, camera decent. Love the photo icons in your contacts list. A bit heavy, but feels solid - hardware isn't cheap at all like other moto flips. I found the bluetooth functionality to be almost as good as SE's is on the T610.
Can't wait to get one I can actually take out of the office ;)
Cheers!

Should I wait for the V600 or buy and unlocked V525 from GSM PhoneSource? Is the V600 worth the wait or are the 600 and 525 so close it doesn't matter? As far as I can tell the 600 just gives me video capability over the 525? I use a Nokia 3650 on AT&T and need a new phone.

you get changeable covers and a nicely lit up M logo on the V600, otherwise they are the same apart from the video.

I bought a SE Z600 today. My Nokia died on the last drop. So far the Z600 is nice. Syns fine with my Powerbook and Apple addressbook and iCal.
If AT&T truly gets the Motorola V600, I'll get that if Apple updates its iSync and I can use it with my Powerbook.
Thanks for everyones input to my posts.

Hi All!
I'm not claiming to be Michael, as I'm sure we'll all be reading his review when it's up.
Any ideas when the official review will be out? I'd really like an in depth opinion on the V600. The wait is killing me - Motorola SA suggest the V600's release will be "sometime in February" (they don't say what year :p).
Although this is my first post, I've been snooping around the site, reading all of the articles, forums and reviews. Does Micheal do all of the reviews himself? Even if he doesn't, he sure does a lot!
Thanks for making this site so up-to-date, I enjoy having something new to read almost every day...:D

Thanks for the link my man, it gave a good idea of what we can expect from the V600. It's certainly made me more optimistic about it; I've never been a fan of Motorola phones because of their UI, but this one seems impressive. Anyone know how much onboard memory the V600 will have, or whether it'll be compatible with memory cards?

Official Specs from Motorola say that user gets a memory pool of 5MB for Java, photos, etc. It's not compatible/expandable with any type of memory cards... So you're tied up with 5 megs.

An additional difference between the v5xx and v600 is that the 600 adds the ability to different ringers for different people. I find this especially useful to know if it's a work call, family call, call from the GF, or whatever. I didn't have this on my first v60, and really missed it after having it on my Nokia 8260 and StarTac. That's enough of a reason for me to get the v600 over the v525.
Also, the v600 is a touch smaller. Do a side-by-side comparo at PhoneScoop.com to see the difference.
Oh yeah, there's no USB connectivity with the 525...the only way to sync or connect to a computer is BT. The 600 adds USB. I don't really care about that, but I know some people do.

Where did you read that. That makes absolutely no sense. Theirs USB data cable connectivity for all the new V series phones.

Like I said, it's from PhoneScoop.com, doing a side by side. There's some limited USB functionality on the v500. Maybe they're wrong, but that's what it said.
Dude, that review is awesome...very helpful. It sounds like a great phone, but the key pad is tough to use, as I suspected.

This phone looks sooooooo great! It makes me even harder to me to decide whether to choose the Nokia 6230 or this phone.. It looks amazing.. Haven't seen a phone this pretty.. The 6230 more like elegant and exec. Please can you help me out.
You, that have V600s, please comment on the phone. Specially on it's strongest specs and unique features, and if you've had (let's hope not), which issues with the phone. What dissappointed you.. Thanks! I really need to make this decision.

Hey Tiger33,,,yeah,,,I get around the cell phone forums. Loving the phone, excellent job you did getting these for people at Howards...It won't be forgotten and if I can ever help you out in my part of the world just let me know.
I ordered some faceplates from gsmphonesource and they should be here today. I've got some custom solid silver that I will be commissioning for it,,,,that should look great and give it the "ULTIMATE PIMP" factor...
As for the question about the phone.....
Best feature: Very strong Bluetooth Range and no line of sight issues. Size and construction.
Worst feature: Crap tastic contacts program...it was designed by a fan of "DragNet"..."Just the facts Ms...." Name, number & email address...don't worry about transferring anything but that or storing it in your V600, because it ain't there & you can't........T630 will get a few people new owners simply because of this crap... Does allow for unique ringtone and picture of caller,,,don't know how limited these features are because of memory limitations.
