first of all hello! just joined. had me new N70 a couple of days, and had a play, and need to find out a couple of answers.

i really want to use this MP3 player a fair bit. important part of buying the phone.

i installed all software, but have worked out its just as easy to drag and drop songs rather than use the software really. but.......memory card is 64Mb, which to me would say that i could fit a good albums worth of music. its fitted 7 tho. ive looked in the folders etc, and deleted the vid clips that came with card, but just wondered whether im ok to delete EVERYTHING on there?

i read that the music software was on the card, and thought if i deleted everything, it might make stuff not work anymore.

also, can you delete the games etc on the phone? and the images that the phone uses as screensavers etc? if you did that what would happen instead of screensaver coming up?

any other ways of freeing up valuable music space? i could always buy a bigger card i spose, which i might do, but for now, id just like to squeeze as much out of it as poss.

i take it pics that you take just go straight to phone memory? but if that was full theyd then go on card memory?

thanks for any advice

cheers

Hi, I don't have any experience with the N70 but I have had a Nokia for a year now (6230) and so I am assuming most aspects will be similar.

First of all the camera will by default save photos to the images folder in the gallery, when this is full they will not switch to the card you will just not be able to save any more images until delete some more things on the phone memory. You can change the location that images are saved to on the camera settings and you can choose the card for that. As for games, they are stored on a dedicated part of the memory and thus deleting them (which you can) wont actually give you any more space for other things like music.
Deleting all the things on the card will not effect anything so don't worry about that they are normally just video advertisements.
As for screensavers, they are normally just gif images which should be in the graphics folder in the gallery so you can delete them, also you can disable screen savers on the settings and so if you delete them they should (I am assuming) just disable, but deleting things from the phone memory will not help if you intend to use the card.

Like I said I don't have experience with the N70 and so changes may have been made so don't use what I said as solid evidence, and if anyone finds I have said anything wrong please correct me.

You could try compressing your music...won't sound as good--the battle between quantity over quality. But since you're reluctant to purchase a bigger capacity memory, that's what you're gonna have to do:cool:

Generally right, but the memory is fully dynamic, so deleting games/apps stored on the MMC card will increase your available space for music and other stuff.

you gota buy a bigger memory card, dont risk deleting potentially valuable stuf, and other stuf from the phone that you cant recieve again, surely you can deal with the amount of music youve got on it until you can afford a new MC? look on ebay and stuf you can get them cheaper!
i think the phone saves pictures to your memory card initially rather than the phone. i think if your MC is in the phone thats where it gets saved, whereas if it isnt in the phone it saves to the phone, thats how my friends SE K750i and D600 works, but your is nokia so not 100% sure. i tihnk you have a choice anyway or a preference setting.
i dont think you can delete games but you can delete most images that come with the phone.

I think all of the preinstalled software can be broght back with a system restore, since they are in the system memory and duplicated in the rom as read only. Just dont delete anything that would lock up your phone, then you're screwed.

This is true, but not for the MMC card which is what I believe they (jayharcourt) was referring to.
