It's basically an N70 without 3G, but with EDGE, for those networks in china that doesn't have a 3G licence. It's basically the same specs as an N70 - but without that front camera and UMTS.

Isn't it right that China is one of the biggest mobile phone markets in the world? So if that was true - why are they late in getting 3G? One would think that they should be the first because the potential sales would be so big.

hmm china is one of the largest markets yes... but the place is HUGE remember...

my friends home village in china hasnt got cell phone covered at all... let alone 3G. they are awaiting goverment approval on a license iirc

Stephanie, most Chinese are still relatively poor. Most phones sold are low end. Even a super rich elite is not necessarily sufficient market base for the 3G investment. And licensing is probably an issue as well as lilltdrinker pointed out

according to the various stats on the net... china isn't one of the largest markets, it IS THE largest market currently existing in the world. They now have 377 million GSM users.

cheers!

Yes, but as was said before, the market is for low end handsets mainly. No point in 3G just yet.

Well, it could certainly be for other countries still without 3G...like the US (although I suppose that'll change soon)...still, hopefully T-Mobile will pick it up since it's got EDGE:D
