I haven't actually seen it for sale yet, is it out anywhere?
It's a dull phone to look at. Say what you like about the Nokia N91, you'll certainly not forget it once you've seen one.. no matter how hard you try. The i300 just looks.. well, boring really.
But I think the real reason is this: Samsung aren't great when it comes to marketing stuff, or even getting it to retail. They have a history of interesting phones that nobody picked up on or never got into mainstream distribution.
They don't seem to be able to generate "buzz" in the same way that Sony Ericsson and Nokia do (for example). When those two companies launch a phone, they do it right. Press releases, pictures and technical specs are easy to find.. with Samsung you can't even find a photo of half the stuff they release until months afterwards, and you might well end up having to read the technical specs in Polish or something because of the poor coordination between country web sites. If I'm a press journalist and I want to find some print quality piccies of the i300 and perhaps some brief tech specs and some blurb, where do I look? And how long to I have to wait? Nokia and SE (and to a lesser extent Motorola) make this easy.. with Samsung it's hard.
If Samsung ever got its act together, then I think their competition would be in serious trouble.

I think Samsung also appreciate that the i300 is aimed at a small sector of the market. I think Samsung can market well, but only if they want to, example is d600 good strong line of adverts. But they are still learning IMO.
And yeah, this phone is soooooooo boring :D

With Flash prices coming down and "deals" being made on large quanties for embedded soltuions (not to mention the recent 2gb microSD), hdd phones wont be a big deal, I do not think. Especially since they suck juice, make noise and are more intollerable to shock.

... for myself, I dont really like windows mobile OS. I've had a chance to use an SPV once - hangs a lot. Not to mention that it's on the slow side.
one samsung that Im interested in is this one:

... but even that, it's not stirring up much attention too.
cheers!

Ive played with a test version( dunno if it was alpha or beta) and it hangs a lot.. and camera white balance is TOTALLY off.. and i know for a fact that this didnt happen in the n90 coz my friend runs a company that maintains nokia sites and they gave him an alpha version n90 and the cam is sopt on there.. its still slow but no bugs.. plus this phone isnt mobile windows 5 os.. it has the 2003 version which is reallly crappy( comparatively)..
