Great specs, size, price! Nokia keeps going strong, IMO..

Appears to have no second camera, but then again, videocalling is still not used by many - to date 3G use is more about data intensive services. Of course, this might impact sales a little bit as many people get into the hype of videocalling, get a two cam phone, use video calling once and then new use it again.. lol..

Mixing Business and Pleasure: Nokia 6233 offers 3G performance in a sleek package

New York, US – During its annual Capital Market Days event for investors and financial analysts, Nokia today unveiled the Nokia 6233, a classically designed model tailored for business and entertainment. The sleek 110-gram, 81-cc model offers a 2 megapixel camera, a 320 x 240 QVGA color screen, digital music player, stereo speakers and a wide array of features and applications which take advantage of WCDMA services. Featuring a stainless steel frame and an improved, intuitive menu structure, the Nokia 6233 (WCDMA 2100 / GSM 900/1800/1900) is expected to begin shipping in the 2nd quarter of 2006, and is expected to retail for approximately €325, before applicable taxes or subsidies.

“Despite being one of our smallest WCDMA phones to date, the Nokia 6233 is no lightweight when it comes to performance,” says Kai Oistamo, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Phones, Nokia. “The Nokia 6233 builds on the formula that made the Nokia 6230i so popular – a classically-designed, feature-rich device together with an intuitive, easy to use interface. As 3G gains even greater mass-market attraction, we are confident the Nokia 6233 will also be extremely popular with consumers.”

The latest Nokia model phone to feature the Series 40 Platform 3rd Edition, the Nokia 6233 ensures that 3G services and applications can be accessed easily and intuitively. Supporting the latest messaging, browsing, music and video standards, the Nokia 6233 features a brilliant 320 x 240 QVGA display, with an ‘Active Standby Mode’ that gives immediate access to the most-used applications.

With the Nokia 6233, the mobile office is a few keystrokes away. To be sure an appointment is never missed and the phonebook is always up to date, the Nokia 6233 easily synchronizes calendars, contacts, and to-do lists via SyncML. To print your favorite images or to connect with a headset or car kit, the Nokia 6233 offers Bluetooth wireless technology for quick and easy data transfer and connectivity.

Moreover the Nokia 6233 is compatible with the Nokia Mobile Holder CR-56, also announced today. Featuring an integrated antenna for enhanced reception, the Nokia Mobile Holder CR-56 supports connection to Nokia car kits and charges the phone's battery when placed in the holder.

In addition to having all the latest features to stay connected to work, the Nokia 6233 doesn’t forget how to have fun. With exciting new 3G services, such as streaming multimedia audio and video content, consumers can download the latest business news as well as sports highlights of the game they missed. Consumers on-the-go can quickly upload and download large files – including downloadable games, videos or MP3 or AAC ringtones. Music lovers can connect a pair of headphones and scan through their favorite music albums, thanks to the Nokia 6233’s hotswappable microSD memory card support of up to 2 GB. A Visual Radio client and built-in stereo speakers offering 3-D sound complements the audio experience.

The Nokia 6233 offers more than 4 hours of talk time on GSM networks (more than 3 hours of talk time via WCDMA) and more than 2 weeks of standby time.

You know whats really crap?

Nokia insist it will be THE most popular WCDMA phone of 2006. Thats bull s**t, I don't know anyone who actually uses 3G JUST for the download speeds, the networks are pushing emphisis on video calling, which this obviously can't do!

I mean how hard was it to put a VGA camera, or even a little CIF camera at the front? THEN it'd be the best selling 3G phone of next year, but only then.

Daedalus, I think you are the one talking bull.. it doesn't matter how much networks push video calling, if it is still crap quality and expensive, noone will really use it. Even if it was cheap, most people will prefer to talk the normal way and would view video calling as a pure fad. "Talk and show" is probably going to remain much more popular than looking at the face of the person all the time.. lol.. Plus, get a 6280 then. :)

by headphones, do they mean the pop-port connected headphones? or the normal 3.5 jack?
WCDMA, does it also mean that it will only be available in europe and USA? and not asia?

ok, couple of facts.

1. In the UK, '3' have now included their video calling minutes in their voice calling plans so you can use your voice minutes for video calls.

2. If its cheaper, alot of people are going to do it, and although yes people do download things with it, the number of people who video call is on the up, and people who buy a 3G phone expect it to have a front facing camera so its there just INCASE they want to use it.

All I'm saying is, its unbelievable how they could just leave it out, its like their going backwards, it would cost them prolly another 10% to add a teeny-little CIF camera, if that.

Believe it or not there are a hell of a lot of people out there that will use video call once or twice, then never bother with it, but they will appreciate a fast browser, and a smaller device, and that is exactly what this provides.

Awesome phone, lets hope its CPU isn't slow. Only thing missing is a lens cover. Finally Nokia pumps out a sensible and balanced product.

2006 second quarter seems really far away, I want it NOW!

I'm fairly certain with 3's new tariffs you can use your voice calling minutes for video. Either that or that was Threepay's tariff's they've upgraded I can't remember.

And how many voice calling minutes do you get charged for one minute of video calling? Yeah, that's what I thought.. ;)

On tariffs where they offer this it's the same as voice calls, ie 1 min video call = 1 min of your voice call allowance

Can either of you show me some web site with this info on it.
