I am getting ready to buy a new phone and I wanted some oppinions. I was thinking of getting the Motorola E815 or the Motorola Razor.
Which one is better and why?

The CDMA RAZR looks well worth it only because it is a considerable upgrade from the GSM RAZR, however it's new. Brand new. I personally wouldn't purchase the first edition of a V3c so soon. Who knows how bad it'll be?

My experience with Morotola's is that unless it's old or it's expensive. The E815 looks like a good phone, and maybe when Nokia comes out with some newer high-end phones for Verizon, we'd have a better idea of what the can do.

LG phones are on par top notch, regardless of low end or top end.

e815 or RAZR are both solid phones. But if you want something insanely good check out the V or the VX9800. flip qwerty. The phone is really quite amazing.

lol difenbaker those phones are so blase...you can't even use VCAST on them!:p

If I had to go with Verizon, I'd definitely chose either the Samsung SCH-a950 V CASTsm Music or Samsung SCH-a970...for CDMA, I like Samsung:D

If reception is your main concern, as it should be, get a Motorola E815 or Nokia 6256i (http://www.phonescoop.com/phones/phone.php?p=515).

...true, but that's only relevant if EV-DO is in your area.

Carcomptoy is right. The A950 and A970 are the best phones for verizon. If you are heavy in txt then the LG VX9800 is a great choice. As far as the RAZR goes, its not worth the money you spend on it. The features are limited and the statis of having a RAZR is over. In my opinion the A970 is one step above the rest. Vocie to Txt is sweet

actually all the people i know who have the V3c got it for about $99, not overpriced at all. the vx9800 is a nice phone imo, althought its rf isnt as good as the e815's.

The A950 and A970 are the best phones for verizon.
We really need to stop using such relative terms as "best" on here. "Best" in terms of what: features, camera, reception, build quality, screen, all of the above...? I own all four phones mentioned and the E815 gets the best reception and battery life, though the in-hand build quality (feel) leaves much to be desired; the A970 has the best camera, but the UI is slow; the VX-9800 is the best for texting and has the better internal screen, and the A950 is best for its size. Overall, the two Samsung phones and the LG have the best features, though the A970 has a small screen compared to the E815; not to mention, the Moto is far more hackable/customizable and is the only one that isn't plagued by Verizon standardized UI.

Still, by saying something is the "best," this presupposes that it covers all categories. If you want the "best" phone for you, that depends on your priorities. Some people just want to make and receive call, with little to no regards for "bells and whistles." There's no point in having an expensive paperweight, and this would be the case if one lives in or travels to a place with marginal coverage. Of all these phones, only the E815 has an external antenna and it actually makes a difference. In any case, when people say "best" on here, they're usually talking about features, and for some people that doesn't always matter.

Your right, the UI is slow on the 970 and the 815 does have one of the only existing OEM UI's on verizon(and a MUCH larger screen)

Anytime you buy a phone you have to ask yourself a couple of questions:

What is the main use of this phone going to be?

What do I want the phone to do?

How much am I willing to spend?

And will this last me the next two years? (or how ever long your contract will be)

Definitely agree!

…sadly most phones last one year, especially with heavy use, and some actually give out well before that time. VZW offers both two and one year contracts, but you practically have to beg, scratch, crawl, and claw for a one year contract. VZW doesn't offer commission on one-year contracts, so the reps rarely if every advertise/promote them.

Do you mean *VZW doesn't offer commission on one-year contracts?*

In any case, I beg to differ with "most phones last one year"...I've been happy with my aged 3650 (although not right now since the memory's corrupted and is need to a firmware update) and many other people still haven't changed from their b&w or 1st generation color phones:rolleyes:

v3c is about the best but you cant exchange it over in the future to another service provider if you want to switch but keep the same phone

Corrected. Thanks for pointing that out. As to your comment about my notion about "most" phones, I was making a general statement and, thus, it was not meant to apply to all phones. Anyway, Nokia's build quality is better than most, so I am not surprised that your Nokia lasted so long.

My wife has the 8100 and it has very poor reception compared to my moto e815.

My parents also have the e815 after having trouble with some samsung models and their reception.

In my experience moto and verizon work well together.

For reception, yes.
