I heard someone saying it was posted on Nokia's own website too under 6630, the software page. But it wasn't there when I looked either...

I think that nokia might be downplaying this file? I mean, if it was easy to get, then more and more people might just get it... and just not buy the 6630 ME?
cheers!

It's supposed to have come out September or October in Europe, Middle East, and Africa...you'd have to get it there, either yourself or by an importer. Idk how many cellphone merchants would import them though since it's not that big an upgrade...

Hi all,
Has anyone else tried using the Music Player? My one gripe is that you will not be alerted when you receive a new message while listening to music. I was expecting the music will be paused and your message alert tone will be played when a message comes in and then the music will be resumed...
Without this feature, i need to keep checking my phone if i have new messages if im using the music player...
One good feature is the "Play in background" option. This basically allows the user to access the phones other apps while listening to music :)

Hi all,
Is it possible to upgrade a "regular" n6630 to the music edition firmware? If so I'm off to Nokia service centre!
Thanks.

I don't even think it's a different firmware, I think it's just the 'Music' application installed on the regular phone, and yes you can install the program on any 6630. I have it on both of mine.

yes, it's possible. The 6630 im using used to have a 4.03 firmware - then I upgraded it to 5.03 which is what the 6630ME had. The hardware's the same - the differences are in the software, the sound of the ME is louder and has a little more base.
of course, it's not a "must have"... the ad-15 and the music player will work with lower firmware versions of the 6630 too.
cheers!

ad-15?
One good feature is the "Play in background" option. This basically allows the user to access the phones other apps while listening to music :)
You could do that originally by hitting the red "end call" button while in the gallery and holding the menu button to access currently opened apps.
So does the 5.03 firmware come with the music player software, doesn't really matter coz i've already downloaded it but just curious.
Cheers guys,
Chris

To add to this, i was hoping that the music will be paused and continued after I have received an incoming call (or if I made an outgoing call) while using the music player.
What happens is that the track that is currently being played will be stopped and you would need to manually re start and play the song to resume listening...

I want to get an upgrade on mine too cos my main 6630 is running 3.45.113 and full of bugs. Like in text boxes when it defaults to numbers or number boxes defaulting to letters, random restarts, won't work with my Music Stand, etc. Hopefully I can still get it upgraded...

You said it mate! I am also running the same fw and even tho I got it re-flashed at Nokia Service Centre at the same time as they released 4.x I got stuck with this. Anyway I'm hoping it will fix my restart issue and besides 5.03 supports multiple bluetooth connections! Woo! I was kinda hoping 5.03 would come with the active standby thing like you see on the 6681. but that was wishful thinking :D
I got a picture to show up where the headphones are on the now playing screen! it makes this app even better!
difenbaker: sorry about the ad-15 question...it just didn't click at the time what it was, thanks anyway buddy.
Cheers guys,
Chris

Multiple Bluetooth connections is good because the phone takes about 5 seconds to close the last one.
Pictures in the Music app are normal, it's something similar to iTunes where it displays album art when the art is embedded in the MP3 file, though not all of mine display the picture. I'll try and take it down tomorrow or something to get it fixed.

I think it was in this forum that it recommended using a tag editor like "Abander Tag Control 2". I used this and manually added my own album art so it shows. I was disappointed in the Windows Media Player album information thing, as it only shows album info/album art for a few of my songs. I'm in the process of working out why...
In regards to the multiple bt update, I don't know about you but occassionally when I tried to make another bt connection immediately after the first one my phone would restart. Maybe that's just the random restart thing. ;)
Thanks,
Chris

The active standby comes from a different version of Symbian so a firmware update won't give you that...at least AFAIK:o
