Nokia holds fire on mobile gaming
Focus shifts to mobile music and TV

Nokia is holding off on mobile gaming for a few years and will not be building new versions of the N-Gage gaming phone.
The company launched the N-Gage in 2003 but sales have been disappointing and, according to the company's roadmap, mobile gaming will not be a focus until 2007....
cheers!

but they said they will focus on making the games available on all the s60 phones since people wanna play games on every phone which is a smart move, cuz i like my 6630 and i like my n-gage qd but its too big to carry in ur pocket and it would be cool if i can get the games available for the n-gage maybe in better quality on my 6630

well...as one door closes..etc
Better gaming for future s60 owners.
Maybe in a couple of years they'll release something like the concept designs on mb before.

Yeah WiFi would be a logical step...whether game-console-wise or phone-wise, what with the PSP having WiFi and the DS barely getting it...

Yeah, I think Mr. Vasara's stament is in line what they have been saying for the whole of 2005, but it is more bluntly pointing out that N-Gage so far has been a disappointment. However, the spread to S60 more broadly is smart, and if they intend to re-enter with gaming oriented hardware layout, end of 2006 we should be already seeing some announcements.
In any case, I love my QD (cheapest S60 phone out there) as a phone and a gaming machine (A LOT of really cool games are already out for it).

I find it sad that it didn't sell all that well.
When the N-gage came out - it represented a new innovative design for phones. I guess, nokia wasn't quick enough to release good games for it... and people went and bought gameboy advances instead.
cheers!

Dodgedriver, Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is actually pretty good (you had that or the 2D earlier one?). The best one in my view is Pathway to Glory and I hear its second part Ikusa Island is even better. Colin McRae. Snakes (free!). Based on the demos available on n-gage.com, Rifts and One are very cool too. Glimmerati. What's the futuristic racing game again.. Rush something (just played the demo). FIFA 2005. Some people say High Seize is very good too and upcoming Warhammer should be pretty interesting too.
