Hi,

Sorry to sound like a total n00b but I have a problem with my D600 and I was wondering if you could help me.

I have tried to transfer files to my D600 via Bluetooth, mainly images from my girlfriend's phone (a SE w800). It doesn't matter how they are transfered - direct or via my Mac - they won't display. The phone says that they are unsupported content.

I thought this might be as they are too large for the phone (one of the files was 2mb) so I have re-sized them on my Mac and sent them back but no joy. I've tried sending other JPEGs (wallpapers from the Internet) and they do not work either.

Please don't tell me that the phone only supports some lame way of getting the files in like over WAP - I had enough problems with Sharp phones doing that to last me a lifetime!

Thanks in advance

Ryan

Just a quick update:

I spoke to 02 (who I have the phone with) and they sent me through some settings for the MMS and GPRS bits of the phone. This has allowed me to send and recieve MMS messages but I still cannot read pictures sent via BT to my phone from other phones (except, for some reason, images sent from my battered 6230, which now work).

I'm guessing here but I think it has something to do with the metadata that is embedded in the images taken with the w800 - if you look at the JPEG header and EXIF information the SE puts in a load of info that I would have thought only applied to pro cameras (things like the f-stop of the camera when the photo was taken, the white balance settings, that sort of thing). I can only assume that it is this that is causing the d600 to say that it can't read the content in the JPEG file.

Of course, ideas still appreciated, as I think that this should be something that is easy to do, and that does not require changing the files or something like that. I've also rung Samsung Tech support UK who said that they would get back to me. I'll post any progress here.

Thanks!

Ryan

Well, this is really gonna stump me!

The 02 settings worked for some images, but most of the images still do not display properly, especially those sent from SE w800.

One thing I have found is that the images that do not dispay have a dimension of something stupid, like 1pixel by 0pixel. The file size is correct but the dimension is not. It is possible to fix this by BTing the file to a PC, edit it in photoshop or something similar, and then send the file back, although I do not think that this is something you should have to do.

Does Samsung offer firmware upgrades for their phones?
