View Full Version : K750 Appearing as a W800

Has anyone come across this before - I got a new PC the other day, and now when I plug my K750 in to the USB cable Windows XP detects it as a W800. The K750 drivers don't work, I have had to download and install the W800 drivers which work fine. It is running K750 firmware, and the software on my PC is identical to the last one.

Go figure...

weird...

um, maybe they updated the drivers in such a way that if the older k750 drivers dont work, it automatically assumes that the phone being connected to is a w800?

just guessing...

This was before I put any drivers in though. I connected the phone, WinXP came up and said "Found New Hardware, Sony Ericsson W800", then I proceded to install the drivers. When I did this on my old PC, it said K750.

Methinks I might have to dig out the old PC and load Windows on it again to see if this is something in the phone that has changed or just the new PC.

yeah freaking weird... wonder some weird firmware issue.. considering its the same os / cable setup.

I haven't touched the firmware between using the two PCs though. I definately have to pull out the old PC and see if it does the same thing.

This is strange ... but Brad, do you not state here: http://forums.mobileburn.com/showthread.php?t=11436 in post #3 that you have flashed your phone? If you're wondering how your new PC detects your phone as a W800i now .. I think it's simply cos you've flashed it and it's 'technically' now a W800i ... is this what you're asking? :rolleyes:

He didn't say he updated to W800i, just flashed it. And he said that the firmware has been the SAME one both PCs.

@MikeUK - exactly right.

When I first got the phone it was a K750c (Chinese firmware), then I flashed it with K750i EU_1 region firmware - still K750 firmware, just different region. It has been like that for a long time now, and as MikeUK says, it hasn't changed between computers.

I'm not that silly rabvtec ;)

It's the stupid WINDOWS XP ! Everyone blame Bill Gates for everything....... so i guess this goes to him as well~~ :)

its the r1n035 firmware that does it
i upgraded mine from the old one and it came up as w800, im sure its been mentioned in other forums or threads
