Well dear all,
All I need to know is what the main difference between the 3 CDMA versions listed above.
I know that for later version the data bitrate would go higher for smoother data exchange and video calls.

1xRTT is the slowest of the three. It has speeds slightly faster than GPRS.
EV-DO is optimized for data, can be very fast, and uses a separate frequency band from voice traffic to do its thing. Rev A is a faster version of EV-DO that is going to be rolled out in the US and other locations instead of migrating to EV-DV.
EV-DV is optimized for both data and voice, is even faster than basic EV-DO, has more symetric uplink and downlink speeds, and can do voice and data on the same swath of frequency spectrum. EV-DV is the best of the three overall, but has been losing support lately for what I would call political reasons (Qualcomm is playing dirty).

quite right on the evdv front... it just lost a huge implementation with reliance india ( largest cdma operator in these parts ) due to some disagreements.

If it's faster than GPRS, why are my friend's Sprint and Verizon phones so much slower with internet then? (not that I'm doubting your credibility, I'm just sincerely curious:))

ixrtt is a bit faster than gprs. EVDO is simply awesome. the evdo card that verizon offers is an awesome device and the data speeds are light years ahead of the competition in the us

Even with Cingular's upcoming HSDPA? heh wonder how that'll go...
