Ok so I just got a Z500A last night and I am new to the MP3 ringtone thing. I tried trimming a couple MP3s down and sending them to my phone from my computer. I noticed that the phone converted it from MP3 to AMR and that the sound quality was awful. I also notice that Sony Ericcson has some sample MP3 ringtones on the phone that sound nice and clear.
I tried different sample rates with no effect. I sent one of the clear sounding Sony samples to my PC to check the sample rate, etc. Yet when I try to create an MP3 for a ringtone with the same sample rate, the phone always converts it to AMR and it sounds horrible.
So what am I missing? Is there some trick to using MP3s as ringtones? Or converting them or something? Is there a way to get the phone to understand that these are MP3s and not AMRs?
Any help or insight is appreciated.
