i just got a w800i two days ago. it comes with a 512MB memory stick and 32MB phone memory. as a walkman and camera phone it scores rather hi points, but scores very low in the handling of contact data
1 SEVERELY INADEQUATE MEMORY SPACE PROVISION FOR CONTACTS
i was utterly surprised to find out that only 500 slots are available on the phone memory for contacts, WITHOUT the possibility of using anymore of the phone memory or the memory stick.
having over a thousand contacts with my p900 unit, the syncronization process simply FAILED. this is utterly absurd when there is a lot of memory space that can be used.
why can't the user be given the ability to allocate the memory space according to preference. if 500 slots can be allocated, why not allocate 501 or 729 slots? just to illustrate my point.
2 CONTACT INFO CANNOT BE VIEWED UNLESS IN EDIT MODE
i cannot understand why it is not possible to view the information on the phone related to individual contacts without having to go into edit mode. it is just absurd. why cant the name be displayed with all the pertinent data without having to go into edit?????
3 SEARCH CAPABILITY TERRIBLY INFERIOR
even the simple phones of Nokia are able to find the contacts by inputting the first letters. in the case of w800i, only the first letter serves as a kind of search, everything else has to be done by toggling. what if i got a long long list of names beginning with a particular letter?
P900 etc has the ability to search the contacts based on any info inputted in relation to a contact ( from any of the fields or notes). why is this not even remotely possible with the w800i? does this phone's capability or incapability really indicate a downgrade move or trend?
QUESTION:
when can the software used with the w800i be revamped to allow users some decent ability to work with contacts on the phone?
REQUEST
would those who have similar or other problems with the w800i please confirm and expand this commentary on the w800i.
would those who can do something about this refer the matter to the persons or group that can do something about this.
appreciate it very much.
stranded with w800i till rescue comes
