The very first time I saw a Siemens HHB-500 in person and in use, I wrote it off. It was just too damned big, looking for all the world like a dagger worn on the ear. That was back in March at CeBIT in Germany.

I'm pleased to say that I have since changed my mind. 180 degrees so.

But before I get into how I was converted, a few technical details are in order. First off, the headset is fairly typical in its weight, coming in at 24g. Siemens claim of 4 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time. But the big thing, and I mean that literally, is the size. The HHB-500 is quite long at 94mm. While that is still shorter than a Sony Ericsson HBH-30, it is significantly longer than a Nokia HDW-2 or Sony Ericsson HBH-60.....

Michael,

Nice review which caused me to go get one for my Nokia 6310i. Like the build quality of the Siemens headset and sound quality is OK, but I'm having a problem getting voice activation to work from the headset...any thoughts? Are the two not fully compatible?

If so, can you suggest a high quality headset that would function better with the Nokia?

Cheers.

I don't have a 6310i to play with anymore, but if I remember correctly the voice dialing didn't work no matter what headset I used on it.

There is no trick to getting it to work on other handsets like the T68i or S55. Other than pairing, there is nothing to "setup" on the headset. Everything is on the phone side.

I have no idea. I have never seen them on the market. I got mine directly from Siemens.
