I have just recieved a replacement phone for a previous 6230b. This new phone ( Firmware V5.34 ) seems to be having some software related issues with the SMS profiles. When I first turn the phone on everything is fine.. however after a while (If the phone looses service and comes back or just sits for a while it seems) it will loose all the settings in the SMS sending profile. When sending a text message it asks for the message center number. Upon going into the SMS settings, everything is blank.. there is no sms email profile.. and the default profile states everything is "not defined". Turning the phone off and on resets all this and the message center number comes back and everything works fine for a little while. I also noticed when the phone looses its sms settings the sms inbox is also empty, all the previously recieved messages are gone. Also, to mix things up even more.. if the phone looses its settings and I leave it like that.. dont restart it.. the settings will come back if the phone looses service and regains it... IE: If I drive somewhere to force it to switch towers.

Manually entering the message center number will enable the phone to send messages again however I can not recieve until I reset the phone. Also to note. The default message center number is +13123149810 (when the profiles are working).. When the phone messes up, if I enter a different working message center number in the profile and save it.. when the phone messes up again that same saved center number apperes. It's almost like the phone has 2 compleatly separate SMS profile menues and mail boxes that it keeps switching between.

I called Nokia and they have no record of this happening on any other phone.. I also called my providor and they are willing to ship me a 3rd phone however if its the same firmware version I would suspect to have the same problems. Has anyone heard of this problem or have any ideas?

Thanks
