NECs superthin L1
Posted Aug 18, 2005, 8:40 AM ET by Ryan Block
Looks like NECs come up with a new cellphone so thin it could only be considered an answer to their other superthin phone, the N910. Their new L1 is a mere 11.9mm thicka mere 0.46-incheswhich is 2mm thinner than the RAZR, and 2.6mm thinner than the Blade (V740)......
cheers!

WOOHOO!
yay to slim phones! lol...remembers jin khang's review where he calls V3 anorecsic.
What I am woried about is that they will get so thin, theyll just snap in your pocket!
Lol..also they shouldnt go much slimmer cos then it would just feel stupid holding something so slim (cut out a piece of paper in to the size of any phone, and feel how awkward that is).

Rememeber the 8210 - was ligth year ahead of market....
Snapped one in my back pocket - managed to get plastic impaled in my behind to add injury to insult... With the array of materials availible today only a matter of time before an indestructible waif thin phone comes along...

you snapped an 8210? ...impaled! hehe!
I thought they were quite sturdy..but i never put stuff like that in my back pocket! what d'you expect, im not sure they were meant to be under the mass of the average joe. (not callin u average! hehe)
hmm..indestructible materials! yeah didn't think of that. they better do it soon though because when they run out of crude oil, we're srewed cos we aint gonna have no plastics no more.

It went ping literally - only 11st and it broke clean - at least the service point got a laugh out of it !!!
Forget oil what about that rare metal in phones that has nearly un out and can only be mined from one place in Africa i believe....looks like wee driven phones could become a reality !

that's one thin phone
what sort of indestructible materials are we talking about here? nothing's totally indestructible especially if you make it into a thin flat thing and then sit on it...

11 stone concentrated on such a wittle spot! snap!
Well, when oil does run out, that means we arent going to have materials to make phones anyway, not just the covers, but the circuitry too!

what type of circuitry do we make from oil?

Well we get plastics from oil, arent parts of circuitry made from plastic?

well this phone looks horrible so i guess at least there the razr wins..
It looks a lot less horrible in person. They have been out in Australia for a long time (we were the first to get it), its rather cool.

nec, initially confusing but the little special touches, like in the multimedia player are nice.
This is quite nice actually come to think of it. this is not 3g right?

I dont like the handle thing...
Naw, I think you just hate the razr and its ubiquity. Design wise - the v3 is more interesting. this is just a sandwhich.
I dont like the handle thing...Thats the antenna.

Well partly that...okay maybe 55% that;)
But it definitely looks more modern than the RAZR. I mean, yeah it looks cheaper, but I could definitely see the NEC being in like Minority Report more than the RAZR, you know what I mean?

Naw - I don't even like the v3 that much but - on the selection category of being in "Minority Report" I think the RAZR would again win that.
just look: http://www.the-gadgeteer.com/assets/motorola-razr-v3-18.jpg.
Size wise - of course smaller is the way to go in sci-fi - but on the basis of design the razr is more futuristic.

looks very bland/generic inside

it's definately narrower than the (relative to the thickness) big fat razor. :)

If it had the RAZR's chemically-etched keypad, then it'd be perfect...the outside of the RAZR is still too 80s IMO:cool:

Woah, an indirect comment about the appeal of the v3 on CCT!
You love the v3 really :p

LOL perhaps...idk after my friends got the Black RAZR, it started to grow on me...JUSTA LITTLE:rolleyes:
I will concede that I like the inside of the RAZR, but the exterior design is so blah
Jose_R.A.M

Exteriior design blah? Well by your definition.
Samsung seems to like it :p, theyve practically cloned the v3
