It is really amazing that Nokia has the "Balls" to sell a Phone for around 1,000€ and it does not even have proper software.

Apart from being nothing special in the software ( the same outdated and boring graphics), it has several bugs (Like the "group" filtering capabilities in the Profile settings, once you set what groups should ring it resets automatically to "All Calls"). Amongst other problems is the fact that the volume is so low that it becomes nearly imposible to use in outdoor environments. What makes matters worse is that when you call their so called "premium" service they have no idea what you are talking about and there is no way to contact Nokia directly.

Now you are stuck with a "Malfunctioning" 1,000€ phone until somebody decides to upgrade the software (03.28), some balls!!!

Dario - nice to label a handset that has more style than any other realsed buggy....I could pick at least 2-6 faults per phone that would prevent purchase....

Graphics were bespoke built for the 8800 and the music score by a Grammy award winner.

Try turning the volume up, putting the phone on your ear and enjoy the aural delights of a decent speaker....

Has got group issues, just use your brain and rememebr who's in what until a fix comes along....

its unfortunate you feel that way Dario. But many people have been more than satisfied with the 8800, as shown by its good sales and people here saying so.

Have you tried returning it?(to where you bought it, not nokia) Or perhaps getting a replacement to fix the bugs?

Changing the Phone will not solve anything. the problem is software related. If you have an 8800 please confirm the bug...

Definitely so can I, but how many are that expensive? The more it cost, the more unacceptable "flaws" are. In any case I complain more about Nokias "inability" to do anything about it than the problem itself. Anybody can make mistakes, but if you fix them right away all is well...

By volume I meant the volume of the phone when speaking, the volume of the ringtones are alright and so is the hands free. I am not the only one that complained about the same thing...

R+D takes months not weeks - in the balance of things the 6230i is bug ridden and a third of the cost with no direct fix in sight...

I'm just counting my lucky stars that the bugs in the 8800 are so minimal, I'm happy to wait all year..

All handsets have bugs. But I guess the bugs in a $1000 handset are four times more annoying than those in a $250 handset!

They are but the end users rewards come back four times also - love my 8800, although evaluating a 6030 currently still go back to it every time....despite the bugs

True, but I do not think that the 8800 will drop bellow 800 since that is part of their marketing strategy. Like the 8910i it has hardly dropped in price...

Too bad, with a little "extra" the 8800 would be "THE" phone. Firing their beta testers should be in order...

okay, so there's the low "speaking" volume, and the caller groups bug... is there anything else we should know about?

cheers!

we should know that it's the cell phone's price somebody's upto with regards to buying this phone. it's a fashion phone. like the overly-less featured Vertu, we should care less about the features in my opinion. in other words, it's a show off phone because it's expensive and luxurious. regarding the price, it will not decline that much - much like of the 8850/90 models. stayed at $275 in Rustan's Place. LOL.

Bought my 8800 almost two months ago and there's other problems like the screen that suffers from burn in, went to get the screen changed but still having the same problem. And of cause the irritating low "speaking" volume, the audio enchancing doesn't help much and only uses up more power when making or listening to a call.

I personally think its what goes around comes around. Buy a stupidly expensive phone to 'show off' and your flashy 'showing off' will come back and bite you in the arse :p
