Hello! Newbie here! I have a question for those who has smart philippine sim card. Im outside the country of philippines so my sim is in roaming. I need to do a pasaload to my family in pinas. My sister told me to type her number and also the amount and send it to 808 but it didn't work. I think the way to do the pasaload thingy is different from non roaming to roaming on. HELP ME GUYS PLEASE  ................. I appreciate any response. :)

I don't know that it's possible for YOU to pasaload to them when you're roaming...text codes are different so even if it is possible, it'd be under different numbers.

dont even bother to make pasaload from this side of the world.
All you have to do is ask one of your friends or relatives in the phils. to make e-load to your number and you'll get the same day. Pasaload is only possible while your in the Philippines and not in roaming. That is what my experiences tells me....coz I have a smart roaming simcard and I just ask my family to e-load for me whenever I need it.
Cheers,
Avelino

How do you e-load? For some reason, my load wasn't even expired, and it randomly stopped getting service...

Just ask anyone you know to make an eload on ur behalf. I think the max is 200 pesos ( That was last year, I dont know now).
BY the way which part of the world are u in right now, carampoy?

heh well my profile says El Paso, TX, so yeah...U.S.A.

Well, it can originate only in the Philippines, but the destination can be anywhere a Globe phone has service...

I think its only in the Philippines we have this pasaload.....for smart and globe subscriber but I dont know about in the other countries. Well, I am not surprise of this, because Filipinos have a special love affair with texting. Almost everyone you meet there have a mobile phone and they don't usually use it for voice call but rather SMS or text messages. Which is quite practical I believe, because voice calls cost a lot more than SMS.
So, Those people in the network phone provider came up with this idea. Although I must admit some people use it a devious way. Like my sister in law, She have this habit of taking credit from my phone or any member of the family. She will make pasaload from my phone to her phone and .....I dont have enough credit or load on my phone while she have mine. But I dont mind most of the time coz coz she is young and like to play games.
Anyway, I dont think this type of service (pasaload) will ever catch on in the west. Most of the mobile phone users are using monthly billing and pre-pay or pay as go isn't much practical because it cost a lot more than monthly pay.
The only thing I notice in the phils is......when u have a montly pay contact, most of the time the phone is not included. Not like here in the UK. where u can get the latest model when u want a upgrade or a new contract. Although they say it's free, but I think you still gonna pay for it thru hidden charges or something.
Cheers Guys,
Avelino ;)

Yep. That's true. Text messaging here in the Philippines is the hardcore operation of mobile cell phones. Here, text messaging is still the primary medium in terms of mobile communication. Know what, I'm enjoying the new network's free call and free text from Sun Cellular. It's really amazing. just load US$6.5 and you can enjoy a month of free SMS and Call whenever you want. My hands sometimes feel so numb because of the unlimited text messaging to and from my friends. Another great thing is that I'm enjoying Sun's free GPRS access. And yeah, Philippines - dubbed as the Central Texter's Capital of the World. LOL. In other words, matatakaw mag SMS ang mga tao dito. hehehehe. :D

Hey Avelino, Smart Communications is testing EDGE together with nokia now. Another great thing about Smart's other feature is the Smart Wi-Fi service. This is not just a normal wi-fi. they are using cell sites to conduct data transmission. so even if you are on the go, on mountains and lakes and so on, you can access the internet using your laptop or other compatible hardware. the only drawback is the limited 128 KBps transmision. but it's not that bad. :)

Globe Telecom, Smart and Sun Suncellular are unable to make their move on 3G coz NTC is giving them an ultimatum to bid. But Globe and others didnt agree with this. They said they should not bid because it's merely increasing the speed of their networks. That is from 2.5G to 3G. And that I don't agree with the NTC's bid procedure as well. I'm pissed off... I mean c'mon, the Philippine market has the latest 3G handsets and yet unable to use their potential...

UNLIMITED CALLS AND TEXT :eek::eek::eek:

UNLIMITED CALLS AND TEXT :eek::eek::eek:

can't believe it huh? well that's true. that is with the same network only. And that is with Sun Cellular.

There are three competing cellular network here in the Philippines.
Globe Telecom
Smart Communications
and the new Sun Cellular (approx. 2 yrs now in service)

Globe Telecom and Smart sued Sun Cellular for this service. But their demand was trashed!!! hahahaha. Imagine the 5,000 to 7,000 subcribers swtiching to Sun Cellular everyday... Totally a massive destruction to Globe and Smart's income.

So to "conjure" their subscriber's, Globe and Smart attemtpted the same approach... BUT! they failed. their network crammed like hell. unable to call and text. so they stopped the service offering for less than a month.

In conclusion, although Sun is a very new cellular service firm, Sun has powerful facilities to accomodate text traffic although calls are somewhat hard to perform also. But txt messaging is as fast as light. LOL.

It's good to have Sun now here. In fact, Globe and Smart are outsmarting us already. imagine the non-sense tones and pictures they were sending to their subscribers with charges and that if you deactivate the service, they keep on sending and charging. totally pissed off.

Ah, well not so good if its same network, cos i cant keep an eye on which networks my friends are on so ill probably end up racking some huge bill. But since texts are 1php (thats what my cuz says) i dont think it would be so bad.

I remember when i was looking to get a 6600 a little sun cellular booth, which i thought would be gone by the time i come back because it didnt look like a very good company.

When i come back i think ill either use globe or smart, most prob smart.

well Sun is improving time-to-time. yes it's true that 6 or 9 months ago, their service sucks but noticing that it is a company with really great potential and that is really what happening right now. calls are not that good right now, specially during night time.

but i'm looking on the brigter side, Globe and Smart during their first 3 years of service is not that good as well. i remember their party lines and hard times during balance inquiry. their pasa load and e-load sucks too during the first 6 months. until they fix them gradually and sometimes having problems too.

NTC here is favoring to Sun already for their "economical and practical" service. :) Next year would be a cross-finger for us Sun subscribers. They are planning to get aerospace. They want to invest on satellites for orbit to lessen their cell site buildings. they said, it's more practical this way since if you are on higher and remote places, even smart, globe and sun are unable to supply cell site signals. FIN. :)

I would probably get Sun when I come back...I'll probably have a "domestic triband" phone w/o the 900MHz and so it'd be good to be on a 1800MHz-only network. I like Globe though, but I think they're still mainly dependent on 900MHz, if I'm not mistaken...plus the unlimited GPRS you said; THAT'S AWESOME! Not many of my relatives have SUN though, although that might've changed. And as for the satellite GSM, wouldn't that cost more though??

yep. sun is becoming common now here. my family has switched to sun already. boy, we have saved so much on communication expenses. i mean before, with other networks, we comsume almost $450/month for calls/text including the 5 family members except dad whose in Spain. My fat sister is the most addict in text and calls. LOL. hahaha. me, simply text messaging. it's the best way on chasing and alluring girls. hahahah. :D

anyway, sun can also roam. i don't know which country yet. regarding the price on aerospace communication, i have no idea yet or if it will really materialize but i'm sure it will be cheap like always. Sun, ang sagot sa matatakaw mag text na masa!!!! hehe. ;)

Yes. And i am seeing no problem with that. communication here in the philippines is quite expensive - with Globe ans Smart. Plus the tax + GRPS service.but that before. Sun has cut things out beautifully... and were spending very less now.

and sun cellular...yuck.

i really don't get it... i mean nobody is forcing somebody to switch to Sun Cellular. and besides, it's merely base on preference. If you are enjoying Smart and Globe, then it's good. :)

Why Smart?

Well to be honest, Globe Telecom is the number one and still reigning network here in the Philippines. Next to that is Smart, and the last is Sun Cellular.

Globe Telecom is a full blown Digital Network whereas Smart is upto now, partly analog. Smart raise their market share by means of using celebrity artists for TV commercial. Globe also do this but on a very low profile. They focus much on the professionalism of their commercial by showing authentic ads. But over all, all of them serve our country at their very best. :)

By the way, Sun Cellular is synonymous to Digitel also. We utterly call it Sun but many also refer to it as Digitel.

it's listed here: http://www.gsmworld.com/roaming/gsminfo/cou_ph.shtml

so which one sucks more? :D

08-11-2005, 08:09 AM
Globe has the most subscribers when it comes to the postpaid market. 700T
SMART 220T and SUN 25T

There are actually 5 brands operating in the philippines.
For Prepaid SMART 16M Globe 11M TalknText 5M TouchMobile 2.5M, SUN 1.5M and Addict Mobile 300T

Globes is clearly ahead when it comes to the clas A & B market as it is partly owned by the Ayalas while SMART by the pangilinans and SUN by the Gokongwei's.
SMART overly compensates it on the class C, D and E market.

Which network do you prefer?
I prefer Globe. I want to be identified to be in the class A&B segment :-)
and my number is in 0917-8xxx series.

Its just a matter of personal preference :-)

For those asking on how to e-load, this site may help.

https://www.pldtonline.com/

You may purchase as much eload here and send it either to the SMART you use fro roaming or to any other SAMRT user in Phil. Immediate loading - like after pressing the confirm button.

They have many other stuff in there, too!!

I've been using it -am using Paypal for payment, but they accept Credit card payments as well.

who's jasmine trias?

jasmine trias was the fil-am teen who made it to the top 3 in last season's american idol. the philippines went gaga when she went to the philippines early this year, and she was the biggest celebrity in the land in that time. she made some tv ads while she was there, and the one she did with smart airs every 15minutes in all major tv networks. that was before i left philippines in june, just dont know if it's still the same at present.

Yeah, it was Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Fantasia Barrino, and now Carrie Underwood...Kelly's the best hands down

pinoypower
08-14-2005, 06:36 AM
cost i think its pretty much the same, or perhaps with just a little margin... havent checked the us roaming charges though.

roaming activation / deactivation with smart is much easier too. all you gotta do is send a txt massage and the roaming will be activated / deactivated in an hour, whereas with globe, you need to have the roaming application done personally in a globe telecom center - too much of a hassle! whats more funny is they'll ask for a supporting document, say an identification card, before they process your roaming application! what a crap! lol

Jose_R.A.M
08-14-2005, 08:09 AM
yeah, kelly rocks. Aint heard of the others, but she's hot and she's got some fresh sound!

Go Smart!

pinoypower
08-15-2005, 11:24 AM
go Smart by all means! hey, im not promoting smart but they just got the best service available for us abroad...

and dont ever try giving Sun a second thought. when i was still in the philippines, i took the bait they were flaunting (the free 24/7 calls and txts) and i end up very much disappointed. the calls were limited for 5 minutes per dial and you'll never be able to make any contact when you dial again. what's worse is you'll never make any call at night! the lines are crammed like hell! we just took the Sun's service literally, meaning you'll just make some calling while the sun is still up there, otherwise you'll spend the whole moon-lighted night dialling! lol

in the case of globe roaming, they will only have the service activated within a six-month period. they'll cut your roaming off without any notice at all once you reach the 6-month period. you need to re-apply again for another six months and it just gets repeated...

smart roaming remains active until you turn it off, that's the big difference.

I think PASALOAD should be a feature implimented in the UK too!
It would be so useful when you need to text and uve run out, but u do not want to use your friends phone..just ask for some credit!> hehe

replacement sim for prepaid would sound easy. just buy a new sim and port ur number.

or do u mean that ur network blocks that card and gives u a new one for free?

carcomptoy
08-25-2005, 07:22 PM
I'm not sure...I'm just assuming. I mean, you're not on the carrier's database since you didn't have to have a name and everything...so how would it work so that they could give you the replacement SIM?

jayesh
08-26-2005, 12:22 AM
both of u guys jose and carcomptoy are in countries that allow number porting.

90 % of gsm areas dont

in our case u have to register with the provider before getting a sim i.e. basically photo id proof ( passport drivers license or any other valid national id )

there is address verification proof just proof u exist along side a copy of a nationally valid paper.

when a prepaid sim either gets damaged or lost or stolen all one has to do is approach the provider tell them to block that sim and they will give u a new sim either for free ( if u are an old subscriber or for a small amount .varies of course from provider to provider.

In response to jose
m not sure...I'm just assuming. I mean, you're not on the carrier's database since you didn't have to have a name and everything...so how would it work so that they could give you the replacement SIM?

yes u are on the network with your address and everything so its easy to give a sim

Well anyway, case and point, with the cash sending version of pasaload, when you lose your phone you lose your cash tough luck, but your fault you didnt take care of it anyway.

The thing is, with prepaid here in America, you don't even need to tell them your address or anything like that, you just buy the kit and activate it. They know nothing of you except that you're a SIM card owner...and so if you lose the SIM card, you have to buy a new one and in effect a new number. In the Philippines it's like this too...so my question is, how are they supposed to give you a new SIM when they have no idea who you are and anybody can just pretend to be a subscriber to get a new one?

pinoypower
08-30-2005, 04:58 AM
i dont think lost sim card replacement with same number is possible in the philippines for prepaid subscribers. what i have tried though with globe was the sim upgrade. they'll upgrade your sim card with a new one with better memory, and you get to retain your old number.
