Hello everyone!

Welcome to MobileBurn Forums!!!
We thought to start an unlocking post here in the Nokia forums. Simply post your Provider name (and country), IMEI, and Phone Model. An unlock code will be posted if it's possible in the thread.

Since this service is FREE, please do not ask repeatedly or PM the mods with questions. They will ignore you :)

Here is how to enter your code once you have it:

Power off phone and REMOVE SIM
Power phone back on without sim
Push #
Push * key 3 times (you will see p)
Push * key 4 times (you will see w)
Push * key 2 times (you will see a +)
Enter the 15 digit code
Push the * ket 2 times (you will see +)
Type the lock digit (this will typically be 7)
Push #
That's it - The phone should display "Phone restrictions off"


NOTE: If the code does not work properly the first time (and you are 100% sure you enterd it correctly) - DO NOT re-enter the same code!!!! Please post your results. We assume absolutely NO responsibility if anything goes amiss.

How much do you charge anyway? One more thing..... I was and still am a bit skeptical on the unlocking process. Maybe it was a sales gimmick, but it was told to me that unlocked phones have the tendency to lock back up and become unusable altogether. How true is this? Or am I right in suspecting this to be a sales gimmick to get me to purchase an unlocked phone at a ridiculous price?

I am not aware of unlocking ever causing problems (if done properly). It is a safe practise. Essentially, you are removing provider implemented blocks that allow you to use YOUR phone with any network you choose to. One of the reasons they are locked in the first place is to stop subscribers from "Straying" to another company. Indeed, in some countried locking a handset is forbidden. Go ahead and unlock it! If you travel in the near future, you can pick up a local provider sim and use it to make inexpensive local calls rather than roaming with your home provider. There can be great benefits! In Brazil for example, TIM has a free GPRS deal on now... You buy a sim for 40.00 REALS (20 ish US) and then surf for nothing! Can't beat that.

it is on at&t and the imei is 351102502301038 i checked the sticker on the back and also in the programming by hitting *#06#

i know i read to only try the code once but i did try it twice, how many chances to you get and is it possible to try something different

You would need a cable to do it.. the cables are cheap but aren't much use after you have unlocked.

To understand what ‘unlocking’ is you first need to know what ‘locking’ is. ‘Locking’ is accurately termed ‘SIM-locking’. SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module. A network service provider lock or SIM-locking is used ensure that your phone will only work on one network; the one that you bought your phone from. If your phone is locked then it will not accept a SIM card from any other network. SIM-locking is essentially a barrier set up by the networks to switching suppliers. Handset manufacturers, at the request of mobile networks, lock handsets. The SIM card itself is not actually locked, you can use it with other handsets that are not locked to other networks.

If you wish to use your phone with a SIM Card from a different network, the phone needs to be unlocked. The removal of the lock would benefit competition. But more importantly, it would benefit YOU. Unlocking is the process of removing the service provider lock so that its possible to use SIM cards for other networks in your phone. Once unlocked your phone will also accept foreign SIM cards.

An unlocked phone can be used on all networks operating on the frequency it was designed for. For example, in the UK there are five major networks, Vodafone, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin. Vodafone and O2 operate on GSM900, while Orange, T-Mobile and Virgin operate on GSM1800. A UK dual band mobile phone can operate on GSM900 and GSM1800, therefore being capable of working on all networks.

I am thinking of buying the Panasonic GD88, can that be remotely unlocked?

I know someone who has the Sony Ericsson T300, I think, can that be remotely unlocked?

Hello again,

The T300 can be remotely unlocked, but you do need a cable. The GD88 has to be unlocked with a cable as well. This cannot be done remotely.

Well Sean gave that last code a try, didn't work. Oh well have 1 more try left but I think I will leave it alone until it sounds like the 3650's have been mastered, it seems like it is still a bit of a mystery in comparison to the other models. Yes I doubled checked the number and tried to unlock it it twice already (but getting 'code error' both times).
There's another code underneath it but it's got letters within it which i seriously doubt is the IMEI number. But here it is just in case you need it:

The second code gave me the beautiful sight of " Sim Card Restriction Off" wahey!

I checked with an O2 sim and it said " Sim Card Rejected" so it wasen't then but it is now :)

If it's a second hand phone (I.e you didn't buy it from a service provider or a high street shop) They might of tried to unlock it themselves with the wrong codes and as this thread says if you try more than the allowed times the only other choice is to have it unlocked via a cable. :(

That message also comes up if its already unlocked I believe :)

If i remember correctly Vodaphone used to sell most of their phones unlocked anyway..

U guys still suffering from SIM locking problem...? Amazing.... Guess the competition between operators aren't that hot I see. Here in Thailand they unlock sim last year because of the price war. We have AIS (GSM 900), DTAC (1800), Orange and Hutch (CDMA) the price war is amazing I'm currently paying 300 Baht/month using AIS(40 Baht to a Dollar) for 60min talk time and from 61min onward its 2.50 Baht/min. where as 3 years ago I'd have to pay 500 Baht/month just to keep the line active then its 3 Baht/min for making call. But there are cheaper operator like Orange and Hutch but coverage not as good as AIS being the first operator in Thailand follow by DTAC.

Typically, for US phones, the first code is all that is needed.. it isn't perfect though - and some users find they need to use the +7 code.
Of course I will unlock others.. go crazy.
